Vigan, Ilocos Sur was hailed as one of the UNESCO Heritage site and the best example of how lives were in the Hispanic Period. You can get to Vigan by plane, bus or car! And here are my lists on how to help you maximize your time while engaging yourself through the past while in Vigan!

1. Visit their Plaza

May it be day or night, The Vigan Plaza has something to offer- entertainment and sightseeing!

There you can visit their church, have a glimpse of the olden buildings and structures, buy pasalubong (something to give to others) and see their famous fountain show.

At night, the colorful fountain show will give the locals and visitors the sense peace while watching the dancing waters together with the upbeat and modern pop music.

2. Ride Kalesa (Horse)

Since it is an historical city, Kalesa has been a part of the transportation not just in Philippines but in other countries and past histories as well.

There are a lot of offers that will guide you through the heart of the city while experiencing the rich and simple pace of the lives before using Kalesa.

When we went there, riding a kalesa for two hours is only for 200 pesos (4pax) while visiting the famous landmarks there!

3. Engage yourself with history

While in Vigan, it is like walking through 80's and the preserved history is so visible.

You can walk and buy some pasalubongs at the Calle Crisologo, visit the bell tower and go upstairs to see how beautiful the landscapes below are, go to multiple museums that promote Philippine History and its independence and many more.

4. Visit Balaurate

Before leaving, grab the chance to visit Baluarte. This is a place where you can meet ponies, horses and even deers which I have met for the first time. If you are with children, they will surely love it.

5. Appreciate History

History is my favorite subject since then, and I am grateful that I have visited a place that promotes and encourages everyone to love history and after the trip, I fell inlove with history all over again 💕.
