Moana Cafe in Canggu, Bali

in #travelfeed6 years ago

Have you ever played the game "Frogger?" The one where you cross the road and try not to die? Yeah, I wish I had 3 lives that that lil' frog.

I'm staying off of Batu Balong Road in Canggu, Bali, which means I can walk a lot of places (and also simultaneously play frogger as I dodge motorcycles and vehicles that get way too close to me as I'm trying to walk).

There's not much of a shoulder to walk on the road, but it's TECHNICALLY doable to walk along Batu Balong in Canggu if you're still in "I haven't rented a motorbike and maybe I will, maybe I won't mode."

So, I walked into this awesome place called Moana. Like practically everywhere in town, they have a lot of healthy options! And if you've seen the movie, it kind of definitely feels like you're in the movie once you get in there. So, that's a bonus...because it's fun to feel like an animated character sometimes, I guess.

I'm not going to write a lot, pictures speak 1,000 words, so I'm just going to let them speak for themselves about how awesome this place is:

I ordered some kind of breaded or fried eggplant with avocado and spicy tuna sauce. It sounded weird enough to be amazing, and it was!

Even their menu is amazing:

To get a feel for the prices there, 13k Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) = about $1 USD.

Look how creative the floor is! I always admire and appreciate creativity in a restaurant or cafe.

This is definitely a good place to write a steemit post (as long as you have a full charge on your laptop. I didn't see any power outlets here).

Looks like a cool place to work!

Definitely is! Oo but not in a literal sense. It's kind of hot lol

I am going to travel bali on summer :-)

Oo what part? You'll like it!

I heard a place called Hubud in Bali, a co-working place for everyone to join.
This place looks just like a place I can sit all day to do work!

so beautiful!!!!

Avocado eggplants and tuna a combination which I should try :) :)

I miss Bali. I'd almost always go to the restaurants that you don't see any foreigners in. Have you tried Padang food yet?

No! Where can I find it? I just asked a local a few minutes ago where the locals eat haha weird timing

You might not find many in Canggu but Seminyak has a few if you get a bit away from the beach. Many of the restaurants have a big PADANG painted on their front window. I would ask a local if they know any good ones close to you. You just point to the items you want. Beef rendang is the best dish I have ever eaten. Also get the jackfruit curry, nangka is the word for jackfruit. They have tempe and vegetables too if you don't eat meat. But seriously, the beef rendang will change your life.

This place is amazing, despite not having plug points for charging, but still, a relaxing place to enjoy and chill. Thanks for sharing, @nomadicsoul! :)

I've been in bali the last 2 weeks and seen this place many times driving past, next time im stopping and going in!

Omg that's awesome! How long will you be here?

Hoping to stay for 2 months, as long as our funds allow really haha! How about you?
