How To Hang Out In An Airport Lounge Like A Baller

I always just assumed airport lounges were for fancy people with fancy suits and fancy briefcases. Ya know, the kind of people who knew how to adult properly.

I’m not one of these people.

I shop at Goodwill. And I get my furniture out of dumpsters.

The only kind of suit I wear is this:

I am NOT an airport lounge girl.....

Until,, suddenly,, one day I was.

I didn’t even really notice that these things existed until a few years ago when I got to hang out in the Istanbul lounge with my fancy friend (the one who wears a banana suit with me. Ok, he’s not always fancy).

It felt kind of nice to live the fancy life for a day, I’m not gonna lie.

So I wondered if I could be baller like him. I turned to trusty google to see if it could help me. I googled something on the lines of “how to pretend I’m baller by hanging out in airport lounges.”

I held my breath, crossed my fingers, and hoped that google would help me get into the cool kids club.

And well, let me tell ya.

Google got me into the club, no suit required!

It was actually easier than I thought. You can do one of several things.

Remember, I’m a frugal mcdougal, too.

So no, I didn’t pick the first option. I went with the credit card.

Here’s why.

With the credit card, you pay $400/ year but you also get $300/ year given back to you for travel credit. So, I can get reimbursed $300 for any flights I took this year, for example.

Since I travel a lot, that alone is a HUGE perk since I know I’m going to use it.

For the lounge access part, you always get to bring in one guest for free. Your visits are always free. You can eat meals in there for free, which saves money on overpriced airport food. There are sockets everywhere to recharge your stuff while you relax in a comfy chair with your free wifi.

But wait, there’s more.....

This card has so many benefits. They have good travel insurance, so you don’t really need to worry about buying any.

They will cover you for lost luggage, delayed luggage, canceled flights, health issues, whatever.

You just have to pay for your stuff with the card so that if there’s a problem, they’ll cover it. That includes another thing they cover: your phone.

I found this out because of the phone incident I had. I called Chase toll-free via Skype to ask if I was covered. Turns out you have pay your phone bill with your credit card to be covered for any broken, lost, stolen phones.

Yeah, I wasn’t using that one (even though I used to) because it’s a long story.

But at least now I know what the rules are. They don’t typically go over all of this stuff with you when you sign up, so you have to do your own research, or learn the hard way like I did.

Since I was paying $70/ month for travel insurance, I could totally drop that and not make that payment with this credit card.

So now the card only cost me $30/ year, but it also has so many good bonus things, that the $30 will easily pay for itself. Like, getting flight miles with all of my purchases.

The signup bonus alone was enough to get a free domestic flight.

I love my chase cards and they’re typically pretty helpful so if you want to be a baller and travel a lot, I totally recommend getting this credit card!!
