Bangkok at Night - My Birthday Gift

The best present for my birthday was visiting my son and his girlfriend in Thailand. I arrived the day before my birthday for two weeks. Two weeks that I was expecting to be full with emotions and lots of sunshine. I am still in Thailand and my holiday is not over yet. I have experienced adventures and I saw awesome places and there are still more to be seen.

This post is the first from many more where I will share my best moments from this unforgettable holiday.

I will start with my actual birthday, November 20th. On that day usually the weather is not nice. It could be cold and windy, rainy or even snowy. But this year I am in Bangkok and the day was sunny and hot. George and Nat (my son and his girlfriend) has booked dinner on a river boat. Before that we stopped for a stroll in SiamParagon Mall.

The interior caught my eye with its green everywhere.

Of course Christmas decoration is not an exception for Thailand. Although it is not very much making me feel Christmassy when the outside temperature is about 35°C.

Seeing Ferrari inside the mall was really amazing.

I was overwhelmed and not quite able to make many photos. This was my day and I was with George and Nat and that what matters the most.

So, after spending couple of hours in the mall we headed to the pier where to board on Wonderful Pearl cruise boat. The boat arrived and before we got in, the band started playing on the upper deck welcoming the guests.

Our table was on the upper deck too. It was great as I could feel the breeze cooling the air. The food was superb and the band was playing evergreens. The cruise along the river is a fantastic way to see the city at night and it was a bit of a challenge to my photography skills, because I had no experience with night photography.

There were many cruise boats like ours.

The singer, like professional tourist guide was announcing what we see on both sides of the river. Honestly, I could not remember them all. But I cannot forget the Grand Palace.

For our entertainment there was Thai dance, which I could not see well, because a tall bloke was standing in front and blocked half of the scene. However I managed few shots and here it is one of them. The second male dancer I could not get in focus at all.

The city continued to reveal more wonders before our eyes - the skyscrapers, the bridges, all that illumination.

Approaching Rama VIII bridge and I couldn't stop admiring it.

And the closer we got and looking from below, the different angle for shooting became more awesome.

And this detail is like strings of a giant musical instrument.

The biggest illumination was in front of IconSiamp Mall, where the brand names were shining on its facade and Christmas decoration was added to the whole glitz and glamour.

The reflection of the many lights on the water made it shiny.

My son told me they haven't been in this mall and we decided to visit it some day, which hapened to be the place where I met @hangin and we had fantastic time in this wonderful place. The cruise was reaching its end and I was keeping on clicking with the hope most of my photos to be good enough. I have to admit that many were not and I had to delete them. But the rest will always remind me about the best birthday I had.

At the end of the cruise along the river the waves left by another boat with reflections of the city light - I cannot think of better ending of the post.
