Food!!
As soon as we arrived we made the plan to go up to the top of the festival and eat our way back down 😂 and this just what we did. Starting with dessert of course lol
Green tea ice cream! A staple of the green tea festival 😋No cones though, a lot of people where asking him if he had any but I think he was saying it takes away from the flavor. Maybe he is right, but it was so good I don't think it could take too much away.
The same guy was selling this green tea instant mix. Just put some into a water bottle and shake it up 😁 Seemed like something I could use but the price felt a little steep at 30,000₩.
Actual Lunch
We stopped at this food truck to get something because they had things with green tea in them. My friend has been sick lately with a bad throat so I asked the people if there was shrimp in the green tea bibimbab (녹차 비빔밥), she has a serious shrimp allergy. Man, that guy was confused when he handed her card back because he didn't know who could speak Korean 😂
Green tea Bibimbab it seemed like that instant green tea powder was sprinkled on top of it.
Tea Tasting
What is a green tea festival without a little tea tasting, am I right? Need it to wash down that bibimbab 😀
This is green tea. Then next is black tea.
The little wooden thing you are seeing is a second filter because it has fine spices mixed with the tea. Also fun fact! Did you you know that you steep different teas at different temperatures? Green tea for example should be steeped at about 76°C and black tea at 93°C. I learned that from a friend that is really into tea, it blew my mind because I noticed that green tea was often more at a room temp when it is served, so now I hope you all know as well 😁
Flower Tea
Not really green tea but it is still a tea and counts ha The sign translates directly to cold flower drink.
They were selling these in bottles as well, so I came back and got one for the intern at my school. I figured she would like it since it is really sweet and suppose to be healthy as well.
Dinner
Green Tea Rice Cakes (녹차 떡볶이) I believe that the green tea part is mixed into the sauce on this one. It was a little milder in spice compared to usual.
A Korean Pancake (파전) for the entree, side dishes (반찬) of course, and Korean Rice Wine (막걸리)!
I always like how restaurant owners will ask me if I can eat Kimchi or Gaenip (a korean leaf that is kinda woody). I just look at them and say, 'I can eat anything.' The exception is Skate fish (홍어). Not that I can't eat it, I would just rather have anything else lol
Actual Dessert
This is a Korean dessert pancake (호떡)
It contains a cinnamon sugar filling and nuts. Unfortunately, my friend could not have this because it contained peanuts so she opted for the next option.
Cup bread, honestly I can't remember exactly what this is called, I just think cup bread is the Konglish way of calling it. They are filled with a red bean paste and that is all I really need to know to want more 😋 I love red bean desserts, it is one of my weaknesses ha
Alright, we came full circle. From the top of the festival we started with green tea ice cream and we ended with green tea ice cream. The second serving wasn't as good because it it was more of a soft serve than real ice cream. It was still pretty good though.
All and all this is another festival that I would highly promote if I could. There was so much to this place that if I came back a second day, I could easily find more things to do. Tommorow, I will highlight more photos that I took of the scenery and events they had but there really is a ton of things to do. If you come to Korea in the Spring time keep this festival in mind even if you are a coffee drinker like me 😂
I tend to write about life in Korea as a foreigner, food, photos from trips, and things teaching related. If that interest you and you like this post, please give me a vote and follow

Green tea and matcha is the in thing today. Every cafe and restaurant has it in cold or hot beverages. There is mild different in taste though because some are bitter than others. I might have read about the steeping of tea but forgot lol! Information for me goes in one ear and out the other. With the cup bread, there is a similar bread here in our place called buchi. We can fill it with ube (yam), black beans and even sticky rice.
I haven't seen tbe matcha around here. Actually, my friend was also saying that out of China, Korea, and Japan. Korea was the last one to get into tea cultivation because they didn't have a need for it. Yeah, we take in so much everyday it is hard to remember 😂 Yum bread sounds really good. You can get yam donuts here too!
