Our Go Sea Kayaking Tour in Byron Bay

Today I want to tell you about our Go Sea Kayaking tour in Byron Bay. We did the tour on a very sunny, pleasant day. In the morning we relaxed on the beach and saw whale fins from some distance in the ocean, the view was very clear. On our way back to our hostel we passed a vendor offering kayak tours. We were very interested in it and the group leaders said that today they had seen many whales out paddling and the weather would be perfect for whale watching. So we booked a three hour tour for both of us, it cost a total of $ 150. The provider was called Goseakayakingbyronbay.

At 2 pm we started the tour. Included in the price were wetsuits and snacks. We paddled far out on the ocean with the kayaks, it was certainly a few kilometers. We wanted to see majestic humpback whales. During their migration season, Humpbacks make their way out of Antartica to the warm waters of Queensland and return with their young calves.

As I can tell you now, unfortunately we did not see a single whale that day. I think we were just unlucky. The tour itself was very exhausting, which was maybe because my sister and I had a kayak on our own and no strong guy at our side. Some of us became a bit impatient and listless. The team was still very motivated and very nice, hats off!

They tried to motivate us further. Finally, I have to say that the tour was clearly too expensive for the price. Of course no one can guarantee that you will see whales. In PortMacquarie, however, we did a boat tour, which I'll tell you in one of my next posts. There we saw many big whales. A boat trip I would therefore always prefer a kayak tour.
