RE: Spanish cultural traditions: the Lobos River Canyon and the pilgrimage of San Bartolomé and the Virgen de la Salud 2019

in #travelfeed5 years ago

The Knights Templar built a lot back in the day. I was always fascinated by all the orders (Templar, Teutonic, etc.) and all their mysteries. I look at your pictures and it seems it was yesterday when @Kamile and I been to Spain walking that Camino Frances, but it was two years already. ;/ Time flies...

The presence of the Order of the Temple in Spain was far superior to what historians would have us believe. Unlike France, here there was no exhaustive archive of its possessions, and when the Order was suppressed, many of its possessions were transferred to other orders, especially that of the Hospital of St. John in Jerusalem. The Ways of Santiago are many and varied. The most common, as you say, is the French or the Ancient, but you would be surprised to know the routes and roads that cross the entire Peninsula and the mysterious places where pilgrims stopped. The area of Soria was part of the Aragonese Way and there are still ancient sanctuaries and traditions that date back to the Middle Ages, which still have many secrets to tell. Thank you very much for your comments and regards to @kamile
