Summer Summit in Budapest - Hungary

So far I have not been a big friend of private/company events. So events where my colleagues did a weekend, for example some teambuilding events.

The classic: You meet for lunch on Friday lunch/afternoon and then work out things together for a short slot. Then it goes quite soon to dinner or just into some activities and then finally to dinner and in the evening usually gets quite wild drunk. So far I have always refrained from that, because I'm not a big fan of getting drunk with my colleagues. A proper drunkenness in my company is reserved for my friends and I have no need to get drunk in the presence of my bosses and to become accordingly offensive.
I leave that to others. They usually use the opportunity even if the boss pays to get a good deal.

So this year we went to Budapest and the accommodation as well as the whole supporting program was quite respectable.
The Radisson Blue in the middle of Budapest was our accommodation for the next two days. And of course there is hardly anything to complain about. Actually there is nothing to complain about...

So it was that the first slot of the workshop started around 13:00 o'clock and we took care of the design with some teams on the topic "new office".
In the afternoon we went on a nice tour through Budapest where we had to find sights in a kind of scavenger hunt against the other teams and had to solve some puzzles.

After a few kilometres on foot our destination was a good Hungarian restaurant and afterwards a cocktail bar. All good, all fine 😊
Around 3 o'clock in the morning we had drunk the last beer with our colleagues in the room and I was finally in bed.

The next day at 8:30am we were startled and ran for breakfast.
The beers from last night were clearly noticeable. Only good that I had my slot for presentation at 10am and had to talk for 30min.
A little improvisation and then it works. Everything went well everything was fine.

The rest of the day was characterized by further group work and presentations of the colleagues. All in all very informative and above all very entertaining.
Around 18:00 we went to Buda (part of Budapest) for dinner.

A wonderful Wiener Schnitzel and a few good beers later we set off to walk to the cocktail bar (the destination for tonight). On the way there we were able to get to know the architecture and the flair of the city a little bit.

Budapest is a beautiful city with an incredibly beautiful old town and many historical buildings in excellent condition.

Budapest was made into one under forced administration from Buda (the part on the hill) and Pest (the part on the Danube in the lowlands) around 1849.

The goal for the evening was a Tiki-Bar where the colleagues waited to order the cocktails with the most skulls (i.e. alcohol).

But before we walked past the Giant Ferris Wheel that is located in the middle of Budapest and it was clear relatively fast that we should not miss a ride. And so we had another round on the Ferris wheel. The conversion rate of 300 Forint for 1€ is pretty much the worst rate I have seen this weekend. Normal are approx. 325 HUF for 1€.

In the Tiki-Bar I was astonished about the really ingenious decoration and the ambietente. A thousand details and super cocktail glasses.

I started with 5 of 5 skulls and got a wonderful "Viva los muertos". Following a hurricane and everything was fine. The evening ended like the last one around 3 o'clock in the morning and ended with a beer from the mini-bar in the room of my colleague.

Now that the weekend is coming to an end, I have to say that I never felt like wasting my time. On the contrary! It was simply nice to finally spend time again with the people you hardly see during the year. It was a bit like "meeting friends"... And to be honest, that's for my colleagues being a very good result.
I'm looking forward to home now, but I'm still full of positive energy and look forward to seeing my colleagues again next time.
Hope you like the pictures and maybe one or the other has gotten the desire to go to Budapest.

PS: I haven't seen so many beautiful women and men like this weekend for a long time. And there is also a felt surplus of women. Seldom have so many young and good-looking women seen in such high concentration in the evening. 😊

Summer Summit in Budapest – Ungarn

Bisher bin ich kein großer Freund von Privat/Firmen-Veranstaltungen gewesen. Also Veranstaltungen bei denen die Kollegen dann ein Wochenende bspw. irgendwelche Teambuilding Events gemacht haben.
Der Klassiker: Man trifft sich zum Essen am Freitag Mittag/Nachmittag und arbeitet dann einen kurzen Slot lang Dinge gemeinsam aus. Dann geht’s recht bald zum Abendessen oder eben in irgendwelche Aktivitäten und dann schließlich zum Essen und Abends wird sich dann meist recht wild betrunken. Da habe ich bisher immer Abstand von genommen, da ich kein großer Fan von Besäufnissen mit den Kollegen bin. Ein ordentlicher Rausch in meiner Gesellschaft ist meinen Freunden vorbehalten und ich habe kein Bedürfnis mich in Gegenwart meiner Chefs zu besaufen und entsprechend ausfallend zu werden.
Das überlasse ich dann anderen. Die nutzen die Gelegenheit meist auch wenn der Chef zahlt, ordentlich zuzulangen.
In diesem Jahr hat es uns also nach Budapest verschlagen und die Unterkunft sowie das ganze Rahmenprogramm konnte sich durchaus sehen lassen.

Das Radisson Blue mitten in Budapest war für die nächsten zwei Tage unsere Unterkunft. Und da gibt es natürlich kaum was zu meckern. Eigentlich gibt es gar nichts zu meckern…

So war´s dann also so, dass der erste Slot des Workshops gegen 13:00Uhr gestartet wurde und wir uns zum Thema „neues Büro“ mit ein paar Teams um die Gestaltung gekümmert haben.

Am Nachmittag ging es es dann auf eine schöne Tour quer durch Budapest auf der wir in einer Art Schnitzeljagd gegen die anderen Teams Sehenswürdigkeiten finden mussten und ein paar Rätsel lösen mussten.

Nach einigen Kilometern Fussmarsch war unser Ziel dann ein gutes Ungarisches Restaurant und anschließend eine Cocktailbar. Alles gut, alles fein 😊
Gegen 3Uhr Morgens hatten wir dann das letzte Bier bei den Kollegen auf dem Zimmer getrunken und ich war dann endlich im Bett.
Am nächsten Tag gegen 8:30Uhr aufgeschreckt und noch schnell zum Frühstück gerannt. Die Biere von letzter Nacht machten sich deutlich bemerkbar. Nur gut, dass ich um 10Uhr meinen Slot zur Präsentation hatte und 30min sprechen durfte/musste.

Etwas improvisieren und dann geht das. Alles gut gelaufen alles fein.
Der Rest des Tages war von weiteren Gruppenarbeiten und Präsentationen der Kollegen geprägt. Alles in allem sehr informativ und vor allem sehr unterhaltsam.

Gegen 18:00Uhr ging es dann nach Buda (der eine Teil von Budapest) zum Essen.
Ein herrliches Wiener Schnitzel und ein paar gute Biere später sind wir dann aufgebrochen um den Weg zur Ccktailbar (das Ziel für heute Abend) zu laufen. Auf dem Weg dahin konnten wir uns ein wenig mit der Architektur und dem Flair der Stadt auseinandersetzen und das Ganze auf sich wirken lassen.

Budapest ist eine wunderschöne Stadt mit einer wahnsinnig schönen Altstadt und vielen historischen Gebäuden in ganz hervorragendem Zustand. Budapest wurde unter Zwangsverwaltung aus Buda (dem Teil am Hügel) und Pest (dem Teil an der Donau im Flachland) um 1849 zu einer gemacht.

Das Ziel für den Abend war eine Tiki-Bar in der die Kollegen schon drauf gewartet haben die Cocktails mit den meisten Totenköpfen (also Alkohol) zu bestellen.

Vorher sind wir aber am Riesenrad vorbei gelaufen, dass mitten in Budapest steht und es war dann relativ schnell klar, dass wir uns eine Fahrt nicht entgehen lassen sollten. Und so kam dann noch eine Runde auf dem Riesenrad dazu. Der Umrechnungskurs von 300 Forint für 1€ ist so ziemlich der schlechteste Kurs, den ich an diesem Wochenende gesehen habe. Normal sind ca. 325 Forint für 1€.

In der Tiki-Bar habe ich erst mal über die wirklich geniale Deko und das Ambietente gestaunt. Tausend Details und super Cocktailgläser.

Ich bin gleich mit 5 von 5 Skulls eingestiegen und erhielt einen wunderbaren „Viva los muertos“. Einen Hurricane hinterher und alles in bester Ordnung. Der Abend ging dann ähnlich wie der letzte gegen 3Uhr morgens zu Ende und endete mit einem gemeinsamen Bier aus der Mini-Bar im Zimmer des Kollegen.

Nachdem das Wochenende sich jetzt dem Ende zuneigt muss ich dennoch sagen, dass ich nie das Gefühl hatte, meine Zeit zu verschwenden. Im Gegenteil! Es war einfach schön, mit den Menschen die man unter dem Jahr kaum sieht endlich wieder Zeit zu verbringen. Es war ein wenig wie „freunde treffen“… Und um ehrlich zu sein ist das dafür, dass es meine Kollegen sind ein sehr gutes Ergebnis.
Ich freue mich zwar jetzt auf zu Hause, aber ich bin immer noch voller positiver Energie und freue mich jetzt schon auf das nächste Mal, wenn ich die Kollegen wieder sehe.
Hoffe die Bilder gefallen euch und vielleicht hat der eine oder andere jetzt auch Lust bekommen, mal nach Budapest zu fahren.

PS: So viele schöne Frauen und auch Männer wie an diesem Wochenende habe ich schon lange nicht mehr gesehen. Und es gibt gefühlt auch einen Frauenüberschuss. Selten so viele junge und gut aussehende Frauen am Abend in so hoher Konzentration gesehen. 😊
