RE: Bangkok Dangerous - a temporary relocation experience.
Nice lil guide to BKK. You touched base on many important things there. LOL about bargaining at Big C, please don't do that :) A little follow up on AirBnB's. They are technically illegal for any stay under a month. I'm sure you have kind of noticed that people seem to make up their own rules about this and many other "laws" in this country but yeah, generally speaking it is the property owner, not so much you, that is going to be in trouble if you secure an AirBnB for less than a month. Basically i think a lot of condo owners were tired of random-ass people staying in a room and partying for just a few days when they lived there full time. I tend to think that once ABB started taking popularity away from overpriced hotels is coincidentally the same time that the website became "Illegal" (funny how that works huh?)
Seems as though you are enjoying it (are you still living there?)
Thanks for so much for the support and adding more info! As much as I would love to live there, I don't. My kid is though, she'll be there another 5 months. I'm just the carrier of cash and reader of contracts, lol. All the apartment agents wanted the security deposit plus first and last months rent in cash and i didn't feel comfy with my kid walking around with that much cash, lol.
In regards to ABB, it's "illegal" in Singapore too, but people still do it. I much prefer Japan's way, make it legal but regulated (as in required to have safety standards met).
