"Garden-violin" in St. Petersburg.
There is a small square on Petrograd, which is smaller in area than the hypermarket. The square is named after the famous Russian composer, Petersburger Andrey Petrov.
Suffice it to recall the films to which A.Petrov wrote music: "Amphibian Man", "I walk around Moscow", "Beware of the Car", "Blue Cities", "Song of a Friend", "Office Romance", "Autumn Marathon" , "Cruel romance", "Say a word about the poor hussar", "Petersburg secrets" to understand the contribution of this musician to art.
In addition to music for films, the composer wrote classical works, symphonies, music for opera and ballet. The fountain on the Spit of Vasilievsky Island with a beautiful multicolored illumination, carries its own streams to the music of A. Petrov.
The square was recently built on the initiative of people. In 2005, writers, artists and musicians suddenly had a tradition to plant trees in this place intended for building. Local residents supported the idea, as they were against the decision to build. They have achieved that in this place a garden has grown where one could rest and take a walk. The square was landscaped by the citizens with the personal participation of the composer. As a result, there was no new building, but one more square appeared. A. Petrov planted a rowan in the park. Around the ashberry was installed a decorative hedge in the form of a musical text of A.Petrov's song "Blue cities".
The square was named in honor of Andrey Petrov in 2007. A year later the park was landscaped with the participation of NE Petrova, the composer's widow. The author of the architectural concept of the park is A. A. Trumm. There was a sculpture group "The First Violin" from eight sculptures representing the artistic symbols of the Composer's mission:
"Violin - Apple", as a symbol of temptation by music,
"Violin-shoe" - a symbol of musical experiment,
Fountain "Violin-Woman" ("Muse of the composer") - a symbol of inspiration,
"Violin-Armchair" ("The Composer's Throne") is a symbol of musical pause,
"Violin-Swan" ("Requiem") - a symbol of musical perfection,
"Violin-Gramophone" - a symbol of musical classics,
"Violin-Sphinx", located at the entrance to the square, symbols of the protection of musical heritage.
The square is surrounded by walls of houses. On one of them there is a bas-relief in memory of the centennial jubilees of the great cultural figures. The wall was called the Wall of Centuries. Here you can see memorable signs dedicated to Salvador Dali, Daniil Kharms, Dmitry Shostakovich and Dmitry Likhachev. Author-sculptor K. Miller performed bas-reliefs in 2005-2006.
The square is small, yet not so green, not far from Petrogradskaya metro station. Passing along Kamennoostrovsky Avenue, you can stay for a few minutes and go around the garden. Remember the songs of A.Petrov and remember the kind word of the person, thanks to which this green corner exists. Especially in this hot summer, when you can relax under the canopy of trees, in the "stone sack" of the city center.
The inhabitants of Petrogradka immediately gave their own, popular name to this green garden - "Sad-violin".
