Hi Steemians!

This time I am starting a series of several posts from my holidays in 2018. Here is my relation of the first days of my trip to the Bieszczady. I invite you to read my memories of July 24 and 25, 2018.

Bieszczady is the most eastern region of Poland. My country borders here with Ukraine. This is the least industrialized region of Poland. The environment here is the least polluted and here are places really wild and completely unpolluted by man. It is also a region with the darkest skies in Poland. I visited the Bieszczady in 2013, being there at an astronomical meeting. A year ago, we planned a holiday trip with a girlfriend, and we chose this place for a few days rest. Decision made! We're going there!

I live in central Poland, and I am 300 kilometers away from this place. We chose as a place to stay a guest house called Solina, located very close to the dam on Lake Solina. In the photo above you can see our guest house. On the day of departure the weather was bad, it was raining and cold. We left home immediately after breakfast and were in the guest house late in the afternoon. We ate dinner and rested, tired of the long journey by car. Tomorrow we need to explore the area!

On July 25 we woke up for the first time in our hostel. We had a comfortable attic room. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast was waiting for us in the dining room. Then we went outside and went towards the dam. There is a street there full of souvenir stalls, restaurants and other attractions. You can see this path in the photo above. After about 500 meters we reach the dam. The weather on the second day was not good either. At times the sun was shining through the clouds.

The dam on Lake Solina is the largest in Poland. This huge dam is 82 meters high and 664 meters long. In the photo above you can see the tourist path on the dam. You can admire the whole lake from there. There is a hydro power station inside the dam. On the other side of the dam is the beach, amusement park and many attractions. You can walk for free along the dam. As you can see, there are a lot of people here in the tourist season. The views of the lake are wonderful. In fact, the lake was created here due to the construction of this dam.

The dam was established in 1968 and thanks to it a huge lake was created here. The resulting reservoir is the largest of its kind in Poland. The lake has 22 square kilometers and over 150 kilometers of shoreline. In the photo above, a view of Lake Solina. The weather is starting to improve. Bieszczady is not only a lake and water. There are many mountain ranges in this region and in the next days of summer holidays I intend to reach the highest peak of the Bieszczady Mountains - Tarnica. We go through the dam to the other side. We will see what attractions await us there.

We're on the other side of the dam. In the photo above you can see one of the water ports. You can rent water bikes, kayaks or other types of boats. You can also buy a ticket for a boat ride on the lake. I will try all of them in the following days. As you can see, there is a sandy beach here and when the weather improves, I am going to lie down and sunbathe here. Off the coast full of attractions a little further from the shore is a lot of restaurants and bars. An amusement park is waiting for children. It took us the whole of the second day to look at everything on the other side of dam.

At the end a photo of a moneybox, where people throw coins for good luck. The area around the lake is a very attractive tourist destination. You can eat wonderful meals here. There is a lot to choose from. After a whole day our legs hurt, because we walked a lot of kilometers, but it was worth seeing this beautiful area. It's time to go to sleep, because the next day we will go to an unusual place. All I can tell you am that it will be a unique place on a global scale that will allow us to transfer in time to the past. Wait for the next post. Greetings to all who love traveling!
