Madlum Cave: Where caving had never been so fun
I often see people posting photos on top of a mountain and I've always wanted to try it, then one day I was granted that chance. A group of friends planned and made this possible. they are long time hikers/trekkers if that's what they are called But me and my sister are mere amateurs. Luckily, this time they are going to a easy to medium climb.
How to get there:
Board a bus going to Cabanatuan at any bus station. We boarded a Genesis bus in Cubao, travel time is around 3 hours if including the heavy traffic. Fare is PHP 117.
Then get off at Kamias, San Miguel Bulacan.
Then ride a trike going to Brgy Madlum, a 30-40 mins ride. Fare is PHP 240 per trike.
Also you will have to pay a tourism fee of PHP20 per person.
Then once you arrive you need to register and they will assign you a guide. It should be one guide per 5 people but since we are only six we were able to negotiate to only get one guide to lessen the expense. It will cost PHP 800 per guide and you can just divide it among you.
We are then set for caving in Madlum cave.
We were then advised to leave out belongings in the hut.
What to bring:
Make sure you bring along your valuables
camera
head lamps /flash lights
drinking water (since it will take more than an hour)
cap (for the heat)
and gloves (optional, some rocks are sharp )
Tip: If you go there at noon try to wear long sleeves and leggings since the path going to the cave will require some climbing under the direct heat of the sun. Since I did not know any better I wore shorts and a t-shirt. :D
Then our guide Kuya Mario lead us and assisted us in the climb.
As we arrived in the entrance, we were guided by kuya Mario the steps in how to climb down and up the rocks.
There are some steep areas with some sharp rocks.
Some areas are very dark and you can't see a thing without that head light.
There are stalactites and stalagmites that shines when they are hit by the light, we were advised not to touch them since they will die. They are very beautiful.
Our guide is very detailed on where to step and what feet to use and he demonstrates how to do it and assists us afterwards.
Of course taking pictures with this beautiful creation of nature is a must.
He also have some good sense of humor since there's a part that will require us us to pass through sideways since it's very narrow. That is the "body language room" as he calls it.
The "music rooms" is when you tap a certain wall of rock and it creates a nice sound. Very interesting.
The background will give u a glimpse of that sound. :D
There are parts that requires you to rappel down or climb up with either some rope or vines. For those who don't know how to, he will surely teach you.
Some places you need to crouch down and almost crawl. I even bumped my head and elbow at some point. But nothing serious.
This is the highest point and going at the edge sends shivers down my spine as one wrong step can lead you to fall to your death. So still be careful and don't overdo it. There is a white line that indicates the safe area and never cross that line.
This beauty once we were out.
There's even a beautiful twisted tree trunk that makes it very attractive.
We made it trough the cave.
Watch out for the next adventure as we climb the mountain and swim in the lake the next day. :)

Also, a big thanks to @bayanihan for always supporting my posts.
The adrenaline is great @robiney
indeed. It's really an adventure inside the cave. :)
The only interesting part is the sounds or music room. I like how this looks preserved and maintained. What's the history of this? Has it always been an eco park? Interesting advise on no touching. Is it true?
yes it is really preserved. it's true that they will die if touched by humans. Some were no loner shining meaning they are already dead. I'm not sure how long it been since it became open to the public.
