Lingyin Temple 靈隱寺

Lingyin Temple, also known as Yunlin Temple, is located in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with its north peak facing Feilaifeng. It was built in 326 and covers an area of about 87,000 square meters. The founder of Lingyin Temple is the monk Hui Li monk.

靈隱寺，又名雲林寺，位於浙江省杭州市，背靠北高峰，面朝飛來峰，始建於東晉鹹和元年（326年），占地面積約87000平方米。靈隱寺開山祖師為西印度僧人慧理和尚。南朝梁武帝賜田並擴建。五代吳越王錢鏐命請永明延壽大師重興開拓，並賜名靈隱新寺。宋寧宗嘉定年間，靈隱寺被譽為江南禪宗“五山”之一。清順治年間，禪宗巨匠具德和尚住持靈隱，籌資重建，僅建殿堂時間就前後曆十八年之久，其規模之宏偉躍居“東南之冠”。清康熙二十八年（1689年），康熙帝南巡時，賜名“雲林禪寺”。

康熙題匾
自命風流儒雅的康熙皇帝來到杭州靈隱寺，老和尚請求他為寺院題塊匾額。康熙信手揮筆，在紙上寫了個老大的“雨”字，可“靈隱寺”的“靈”字按老寫法在“雨”字下麵還有三個“口”和一個“巫”，這許多筆劃怎麼也擺不下了，真是急得皇帝下不了臺。還好，在一個隨從的暗示下，他將錯就錯，寫成“雲林禪寺”。這塊匾掛了三百年直到如今，可老百姓並不買他的賬，仍叫它“靈隱寺”。康熙題匾的笑話也一直流傳到如今。

飛來峰傳說
相傳有一天，靈隱寺的濟公和尚突然心血來潮，算知有一座山峰就要從遠處飛來，那時，靈隱寺前是個村莊，濟公怕飛來的山峰壓死人，就奔進村裏勸大家趕快離開。村裡人因平時看慣濟公瘋瘋顛顛，愛捉弄人，以為這次又是尋大家的開心，囙此誰也沒有聽他的話。眼看山峰就要飛來，濟公急了，就沖進一戶娶新娘的人家，背起正在拜堂的新娘子就跑。村人見和尚搶新娘，就都呼喊著追了出來。人們正追著，忽聽風聲呼呼，天昏地暗，“轟隆隆”一聲，一座山峰飛降靈隱寺前，壓沒了整個村莊。這時，人們才明白濟公搶新娘是為了拯救大家。

Legend of flying peak

When Jigong was in a hurry, he rushed into a bride's family, took up the bride who was worshipping the church and ran away. When the villagers saw the monk robbing the bride, they shouted and chased him out. People are chasing, suddenly listening to the voice of the wind, darkness, thunder and rumble, a peak flying down in front of Lingyin Temple, overwhelming the whole village. At this time, people realized that the bride to be rescued was to save everyone.
