Dear All steemians,

Wish I must share one of my biggest burning desire with you guys. First of all, I'm @zeji from Kerala. Kerala is a beautiful state in India, And is known as God's own country. As the name is, Kerala is really a cute and beautiful place to visit as well as to live.




So, let's start with my

All Around India in 365 Days Plan


I'm really excited with this dream and I'm sure it will come true one day. Wish to feel all over India, the cultures, nature, people, climates, tastes, etc on a Royal Enfield Bullet.

As I'm from Kerala, I must start from here. I'm basically from the north side of Kerala, I have explored most of the places here. Now I wish to spend a month in Idukki, a south side of kerala.

Idukki is a high range destination and full of tourist spots with very friendly people. Trust me it's the best place to feel the beauty of Kerala.

Below is the list of place where we can explore by staying in Idukki.


Periyar National Park

Periyar National Park, also known as Periyar Tiger Reserve, is in the mountainous Western Ghats of Kerala. This wildlife sanctuary is home to tigers and a significant elephant population, as well as rare lion-tailed macaques, sambar deer, leopards and Indian bison. In the park's north, Periyar Lake is popular for boat rides. Farther north, spice plantations surround the town of Kumily.


Eravikulam National Park

Eravikulam National Park is a 97 km² national park located along the Western Ghats in the Idukki. Situated between 10º05'N and 10º20' north, and 77º0' and 77º10' east, it is the first national park in Kerala.


Devikulam Hill Station

Devikulam is a small hill station about 5 kilometres from Munnar in the Idukki. It lies 1,800 metres above sea level.


Anamudi

Anamudi is a mountain located in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the highest peak in the Western Ghats and South India, at an elevation of 2,695 metres, and a topographic prominence of 2,479 metres.


Mattupetty Dam

Mattupetty Dam, near Munnar in Idukki District, is a storage Concrete Gravity dam built in the mountains of Kerala, India to conserve water for hydroelectricity.


Malankara Dam

Malankara dam is a gravity dam constructed across Thodupuzha river for irrigation purposes. The dam is constructed to make use of the tail water from the Moolamattom power house.


Mullaperiyar Dam

The Mullaperiyar Dam or Mullaiperiyar Dam is a masonry gravity dam on the Periyar River in the Indian state of Kerala It is located 881 m (2,890 ft) above mean sea level, on the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats in Thekkady, Idukki, South India. It was constructed between 1887 and 1895 by John Pennycuick and also reached in an agreement to donate water eastwards to the Madras Presidency area (present-day Tamil Nadu).


Thekkady

Thekkady (Idukki district) is the location of the Periyar National Park, which is an important tourist attraction in the Kerala.Thekkady is located about 257 km (160 mi) from Trivandrum, 114 km from Madurai City and Madurai Airport, 145 km from Cochin International Airport and 114 km from Kottayam railway station. Thekkady is located near to Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The sanctuary is famous for its dense evergreen, semi-evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savanna grass lands. It is home to herds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs.


Western Ghats

Western Ghats is a mountain range that runs parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula, located entirely in India. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the eight "hottest hot-spots" of biological diversity in the world.


Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is located 18 km north of Marayoor on SH 17 in the Marayoor and Kanthalloor panchayats of Devikulam taluk in the Idukki district.


Parunthumpara

Parunthumpara is a village in the Indian state of Kerala's Idukki District. It is a small scenic location near Wagamon en route to Peerumedu. Parunthin Para also known as 'Parunthumpara'. From here, the Makarajyothi(a holy light) of Sabarimala temple is visible.


Pothamedu View Point

At a distance of 3 km from Munnar Bus Station, Pothamedu Viewpoint situated on Bisonvalley road is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Munnar.
Pothamedu Viewpoint offers panoramic view of Kannan Devan Hills of Munnar region and it also offers a great view of the surrounding tea gardens. Pothamedu Viewpoint is one of the most popular tourist places in Munnar and a wonderful place to spend sometime in the lap of the nature with great views.


Meesapulimala

Meesapulimala is the second highest peak in the Western Ghats on the Indian subcontinent after Anamudi in Idukki District Kerala. Its peak is 2,640 metres above sea level.


Munnar Tea Museum

The Munnar Tea Museum is an industry and history museum situated in Munnar, a town in the Idukki district. The tea estate is owned by Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (P) Ltd. (KDHP) – the plantation dates back to the 1880s. The museum opened on 1 April 2005. The tea museum preserves the aspects on the genesis and growth of tea plantations in Idukki district on the Western Ghats at the boarder to the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu.


Top Station

Top Station is tourist destination in the Kannan Devan hills of Munnar. It is also a part of Theni District in the state of Tamil Nadu Top Station is notable as the historic transshippment location for Kannan Devan tea delivered up here from Munnar and Madupatty by railway and then down by ropeway to Kottagudi. This area is popular for the rare Neelakurinji flowers. The Kurinjimala Sanctuary is nearby. Top Station is the western entrance to the planned Palani Hills National Park.


Echo Point

Scenic spot on a reservoir featuring an echo phenomenon, plus nearby picnic sites, boating & hiking.


Idukki Dam

The Idukki Dam is a double curvature arch dam constructed across the Periyar River in a narrow gorge between two granite hills Kuravan and Kuravathi in Kerala, India. At 167.68 metres, it is one of the highest arch dams in Asia. It was constructed and is owned by the Kerala State Electricity Board. It supports a 780 MW hydroelectric power station in Moolamattom, which started generating power on 4 October 1975. Technically, the dam type is a concrete, double curvature parabolic, thin arc dam.


Thommankuthu Waterfalls

Scenic series of 7 cascades & pools amid a forested landscape with hiking trails & picnic areas.


Fun Forest

Scenic adventure park with many activities including ziplining & an obstacle course.


Periyar

Periyar is the longest river and the river with the largest discharge potential in the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the few perennial rivers in the region and provides drinking water for several major towns.


Cheruthoni Dam

The Cheruthoni Dam, located in Idukki District, Kerala, India, is a 138m tall concrete gravity dam. This dam was constructed as part of the Idukki Hydroelectric Project along with two other dams at Idukki and Kulamavu.


Our Lady of Good Health Church, Pattumala

The Pattumala Matha Church is a Roman Catholic Latin Rite pilgrim shrine in Kerala dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health. It is served by the Congregation of the Missionary Brothers of Saint Francis of Assisi.


Anchuruli Tunnel

Circular 4-km. tunnel between Erattayar dam & Idukki reservoir attracting daring hikers.


Ponmudi Dam

The Ponmudi Dam, in the Idukki district, State of Kerala, India, is a hydroelectric project constructed across the Panniar River, a tributary of the Periyar River which is the longest river in Kerala. Built in 1963, it has a length of 294 metres.


Dream Land Spices park

Open-air family park with ziplines, camel rides, cablecars, mountain biking & a haunted house.


Mangala Devi Kannagi Temple

Mangala Devi Kannagi temple is a historic temple located in Kerala bordering Tamil Nadu, about 7 km from Pazhiyankudi in Theni district and 15 km from Thekkady in Idukki district.


These are the places where we can explore by staying in Idukki. So my first destination plan is set to there. I will come up with my next destinations in upcoming posts.
