📷My travel to the Tatra Mountains (Zakopane, Poland)
Last year I saw a photo of a lake Morskie Oko (The Sea Eye) located in the Tatra Mountains near polish resort - Zakopane.
I was so impressed with its beauty that I immediately started going on the road. I'll tell you how to get there from Krakow and give some advice.
You can quickly reach Zakopane by Polskibus. It takes you about 2h 15m. But keep in mind that lots of people go to the Tatra Mountains to have a rest and you can get caught in traffic. We got to the city in 5 hours....Further at the station you need to take a minibus with an inscription "Morskie Oko". It takes you about 20 min to get to the Tatra National Park but...remember about traffic! We got to the park in 1 hour...When you have to stand in line to buy a ticket to the park.
But it's not over yet))). Then you need to go uphill about 2.5 hours (9 kilometers) in a crowd of people.
Let's go!
Do not be surprised that I make such an emphasis on time. The fact is that the last minibus leaves the park in 7-8 p.m. There is a possibility not to get home given the traffic jams, the long road to the lake.
There is one pedestrian path, so you will not be mistaken where to go. To our right is a hill, and to the left is a precipice. From time to time wagons with horses sweep past you. It takes about 30 min to get to the lake by the horse, but I felt sorry for the horses.
There are rivulets and small waterfalls every now and then along the road. Look at this beauty, guys. I still can't believe I was there).
If you look closely, you see a small house in the photo. I think it's a forester's hut.
But do not get distracted, go ahead.
By the way around there are a lot of dry trees. I don't understand why.
Finally we reached the staging post. There is a couple of cafes here, the people are packed up with beer.
And go to admire the lake
You can stroll around the lake and climb onto 2 peaks
The first trail is to the right of the waterfall. The rise is very heavy, and the path is narrow. I highly recommend taking Climbing Sticks with you, because the rise is almost vertical and if honestly I almost died, while climbing).
At the top you will find another wonderful lake. It was possible to climb even higher, but we did not have time because of traffic.
And then we saw a deer. He lay quietly, chewing grass, not paying attention to the many tourists photographed it.
In general, the journey to Morskie Oko worth all the efforts that we spent on it. This is a wonderful place with amazing views. I hope you will also visit the Tatra Mountains, if you have not already done that.
And some information at the end.
- Zakopane is a winter resort. This town is also known as a winter capital of Poland.
- Morskie Oko is the largest and the fourth deepest lake in the Tatras. It is visited by more than 50 000 tourists on holidays.
- Swimming in the lake and feeding trout is prohibited.
