😼 Cat, who has not seen snow

in #travel8 years ago

Hi there!

In case you see not enough of cats on internet, here is another one.

His name is Ulisses, he’s french and he is a sailor, of course.

We met at a scenic expanse of Brittany 4 years ago, in a rainy summer night.
We were returning to the boat by a quiet path through a cornfield, thunder was roaring over our heads, and almost nothing was visible.

And then we heard the little voice that said "meow!".
Looking closer, I discerned in the dark a little kitten, which stood out against the background of the night only due to his stripes.

I told him that if he comes with us to the boat - this was about 3 km to the next village - He going to get the dinner and overnight.

And he came!
Once both of us were inside the boat I was able to view him from all sides. What I've seen was a large eyes and ears, skinny hips, a long tail bitten by someone and three months of life behind.

When our stay in France was over and it was time to go to sea, I could not leave him, and took him with us.

The first time in the sea turned out to a five-month Ulysses quite difficult.
Biscay bay confuses even adults, to say nothing about the cat.

In the morning before going out, he had sausages on breakfast, shortly after all of the sausages have been at liberty because he was seasick. Since then he has ruled out the sausages from his menu forever, probably thinking that it poisoned him.

In the next couple of days, he made himself at home, and although at first he preferred to hide in the farthest corners of the cabin and lie there with an expression of universal humility on the face, quickly after he became to go out on deck and having fun with us.

The sheets forever remained a plaything for him, and despite the fact that on several occasions he was doing a pretty dangerous stunts nothing happened, and Ulysses got title of Captain befitting his name.

He passed with us through the sea from his native Celtic north of France to the south of the volcanic Canary Islands, and I think, he feels good here, on La Gomera.

Now he is almost a native Gomero - he lived here most of his cat life.

And yeah, the scar on the tale is still there - so I can always recognize Ulysses silhouette from far:)
