LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA

Langkawi is one of the districts of Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia. Pulau Langkawi was given a tax free status in 1987. Today, the island, rich in natural beauty and legend of this past has featured itself as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia. Langkawi is actually a cluster of islands where Langkawi is the largest.

LOCATION:

The Archipelago is located in the western part of the state of Kedah and Perlis as well as in the northern part of the state of Penang, Peninsular Malaysia. [1] Langkawi Island in the waters of the Straits of Malacca, right next to the mouth of the Malacca Strait, the Andaman Sea to the northwest and the Indian Ocean to the West. Across the island of Langkawi there is Sumatra island in Indonesia and in the north is located Thailand.

CLASH OF LANGKAWI ISLAND:

Langkawi is like a new pearl found by the Malaysian government. There are 104 islands in the island of Langkawi, a formation from the continental drift that forms Southeast Asia. The highest point in Langkawi is the summit of Mount Raya as high as 890 m above sea level.

Among the islands in the archipelago are:

  • Pulau Dayang Bunting
  • Pulau Singa Besar
  • Pulau Tuba
  • Pulau Langgun
  • Pulau Timun

TRANSPORTION:

Roads:

From Kuala Lumpur, we can take a car through the North-South Expressway to get to the exit of the Gurun District, Kedah and to Kuala Perlis. From Kuala Perlis jetty, the tariff is RM 15.00 for ferries to Langkawi Island. Famous paths that are always used by tourists are through the Kuala Kedah pier. The rate is MYR 18.00. For Langkawi residents the tariff is MYR 15.00.

Ferries:

In addition to ferries from Kuala Perlis, ferries from Kuala Kedah and Penang are also available. Star Cruise Penang provides full package to Langkawi. In addition, the ferry service is also provided for connecting Thailand with Langkawi and Satun

Aircraft:

Langkawi has a rather large international airport, Langkawi International Airport. Here are flights to Langkawi.
