Architectural Moscow. A variety of styles of buildings

in #travel5 years ago

Moscow is an amazing city. Not only visitors, but even locals at every step and every day experience a kind of cultural shock from what surrounds them.

You can't just walk down the street and not look around. It's just impossible, even if you've lived here all your life, because there are so many different buildings, which are not like one another.

For example, this "gingerbread house" is an example of the Russian-Byzantine style, which was very characteristic in the days of Ivan the terrible, but at the end of the XIX century, again gained popularity thanks to the fashion of the old days. In such a mansion, personally, I would be happy to live, if I had a lot of money and the permission of the real owner to let me buy this architectural masterpiece.

Just three steps from the buildings of old Moscow reap to discover and modern buildings. It would seem, just concrete and glass, but something made the architect fill the facades of the building with such decorative elements, which, of course, give the cubic architecture a drop of additional beauty.

Usually in such concrete buildings are located ofila or business centers. Hardly anyone lives in them, except for lovers of loft style. And there are a lot of such buildings in the city center. They are strangely in harmony with the architecture of the past years, making its jet in the life of the city.

The era of Stalin's Renaissance is a huge cultural layer in the architecture of most cities of the former USSR. If you count, almost half of the houses in Moscow itself are built in that glorious and fruitful period of time.

For example, these architectural elements belong to the building of one of the many stations of the Moscow metro. As far as I know, there is not a single identical building among these stations, they are all unique in their own way. Until now, they present the symbolism of the past era, which is now history.
