Yes, good times!
Ending up on this beautiful island of Koh Chang was the best thing that happened to us ever since we came to Thailand. Everything is pretty relaxed, we’re far off the touristic mainstream and we couldn’t have found a better accomodation for our needs.

Uhh, des passt!
Hier auf dieser wunderschönen Insel Koh Chang zu landen war das Beste, das uns seit der Ankunft in Thailand widerfahren ist. Alles ist ziemlich relaxed, wir sind fern ab des touristischen Mainstream und wir hätten kaum eine bessere Unterkunft finden können.

Jazz music flows through the wooden open-air lobby all day, birds chirp during the day, frogs quack in the night and we’re all surrounded by water, sand and the forests. The host (who actually looks like Ken Jeong a bit :D) is super relaxed and friendly, plays his guitar to the jazz music every once in a while, his daughter runs and trips around, the cat sleeps on seats or a guest’s lap all day and the guests, well, they’re fully catched by the vibe as we are slowly immersing ourselves.

Jazzmusik schwebt den ganzen Tag durch die offene hölzerne Lobby, Vögel zwitschern am Tag, Frösche quaken in der Nacht und wir sind umkreist von Wasser, Sand und Wäldern. Der Gastgeber (der übrigens ein bisschen wie Ken Jeong aussieht :D) ist super-entspannt und freundlich, spielt manchmal mit der Gitarre etwas zur Jazzmusik, seine Tochter stolpert herum, die Katze schläft den ganzen Tag aus Sesseln oder am Schoß eines Gastes und die Gäste, tja, die wurden bereits voll vom Vibe erfasst, in den wir auch langsam eintauchen.

Since the island is quite big we decided to rent scooters where we got an awesome deal: 145 THB/day (=3,73 €). Expect to pay 200 THB/day (≈ 5 €).
We ride across the island for hours, we let our minds fade...WOAH! Close call. Note to self: Gotta honk before the crests or the local cars come in the middle of the road. :D
On our way we see wild monkeys crossing the road, the less touristic eastern side of the island where mostly locals live, an oyster farm, lonely sandy beaches with forests of coconut palms and even a badger.

Da die Insel ziemlich groß ist, besorgen wir uns gleich Roller, bei denen wir einen spitzen Deal machen: 145 THB/Tag (=3,73 €). Normalpreis 200 THB/day (≈ 5 €).
Wir heizen für Stunden über die Insel und lassen die Gedanken dahin schweifen...WOAH! Das war knapp. Notiz an mich selbst: Vor ner Kuppe hupen, sonst kommen die Autos mitten auf der Straße daher. :D
Am Weg sehen wir wilde Affen die Straße queren, die weniger touristische Ostküste, an der fast nur Einheimische wohnen, eine Austernfarm, einsame Sandstrände mit Wäldern an Kokosnusspalmen und sogar einen Dachs.

200 THB (≈5 €)? OK.
Stepping off our bikes we’re totally chilled by airstream. Not so after we walk towards the waterfall for 5 minutes. We farangs are sweating heavily. I get the awesome burning sensation of some sweat and sunscreen that trickles into my eye. Flo starts cursing and wishes me a gruesome death for neglecting the idea of going to the beach. :,D
All that suddenly stops. We’re stunned. There it is:

Zeit für einen Stopp! Der Khlong Phlu Wasserfall soll es sein. :)
200 THB (≈5 €)? OK.
Vom Fahrtwind abgekühlt steigen wir von den Rollern. Das ändert sich nach 5 Minuten Spaziergang in tropischen Verhältnissen. Wir Farangs schwitzen derbe. Ein Schweißtropfen mit Sonnencreme tropft mir genüsslich ins Auge. Flo fängt an rumzufluchen und wünscht mir tausend Tode, weil ich die Idee mit dem Strand verworfen habe. :D
Plötzlich hört all das auf. Wir sind überwältigt. Da ist er:

We check it out and jump into the water. At first it’s really chilly - just until I figure it’s actually the temperature a regular lake in Austria would have. The sea on the other hand is like a bathtub.

Wir sehen ihn uns an und springen rein. Zuerst ist’s richtig kalt - allerdings nur bis ich feststelle, dass die Temperatur einem normalen See in Österreich entsprechen würde. Das Meer hingegen ist wie eine Badewanne.

Now that was really worth it. It’s so relaxed and peaceful. Harmounious.
The way back we take through the riverbed and see the valley out of another perspective.

Das war’s wirklich wert. Es ist so entspannt. Haromisch.
Den Rückweg nehmen wir durchs Flussbett und sehen das Tal aus einer anderen Perspektive.

Progress

You may remember what I said about a pact Flo and I had?
So we keep pushing each other everyday. We both make good progress in what we aim for.
We exchange thoughts and one tells the other if his thoughts are absolute horse manure.

Du erinnerst dich vielleicht, was ich über den Pakt gesagt habe, den Flo und ich haben?
Wir motivieren uns gegenseitig jeden Tag. Wir beide machen gute Fortschritte bezüglich unserer Vorsätze.
Wir üben Gedankenaustausch und der Eine sagt dem Anderen, wenn seine Gedanken kompletter Pferdemist sind.

Regarding this topic: Flo was about to dive into crypto trading and was all euphoric about it. So I told him to NOT dive into it. “Bro, you gotta learn first. Do risk management, get a strategy, then start small and keep learning.”
The other way around I asked if a business idea of me was gonna work. The simple answer: no.

Betreffend diesem Thema: Flo wollte gleich voll ins Krypotrading springen und war direkt euphorisch. Also hab ich ihm gesagt, dass er das langsam angehen soll. “Bro, du musst zuerst lernen. Risikomanagement, Strategie zulegen, dann starten und immer weiterlernen.”
Im Umkehrschluss hab ich ihn gefragt, ob eine Geschäftsidee von mir funktionieren würde. Die einfache Antwort: nein.

Instead he got me thinking about my priorities. “Move the crypto trading and ICO investments up on your priorities list. Now is the time.”
He’s right about that. If not even 2 years ago, now is the time.
Already having started, I need to expand my knowledge big time and go through the exact same process as him.

Anstatt dessen hat er mich dazu angeregt, meine Prioritäten zu überdenken. “Setz das Krypto Trading und die ICO Investitionen auf deiner Prioritätenliste nach oben. Jetzt ist die Zeit dafür.”
Da hat er Recht. Wenn nicht schon vor 2 Jahren, dann ist jetzt der Richtige Zeitpunkt.
Schon die ersten Schritte getan, muss ich mein Wissen stark erweitern und durch genau denselben Prozess gehen, wie er.

This place is perfect for a good work-life-balance. We spend like 2-5 hours a day studying/working and the other time we do some fun stuff which most of the time is combinable with our daily workout.

Dieser Ort ist perfekt für eine gute work-life-balance. Wir lernen/arbeiten jeden Tag 2-5 Stunden und die restliche Zeit machen wir uns nen Spaß, was sich zumeist gut mit der einen Stunde Workout verbinden lässt.

The Announcement

Having to concentrate and work on myself a lot I decided to schedule YourMateTravels and limit it to a frequency of once per week.
This will be wednesday afternoon to evening (GMT). Just like this post. :)

Da ich mich auf mich selbst konzentrieren und viel an mir selbst arbeiten muss, hab ich mich dazu entschieden, YourMateTravels auf einmal wöchentlich zu limitieren.
Das wird jeden Mittwoch Nachmittag bis Abend (GMT) sein. So wie dieser Post. :)

Besides the traveling posts there are also other, rather informative posts in the pipeline.
As you might have noticed I set up a prototype of a navigation page to click through older articles more easily. The actual site is being created on another server.

Next week I’ll tell you more about my outside and inside journey.

Wie du womöglich schon mitbekommen hast, hab’ ich eine provisorische Navigationsseite gebastelt, mittels welcher man leichter durch die alten Artikel klicken kann. Die richtige Seite wird derzeit auf einem anderen Server gebastelt.

Nächste Woche erzähl ich euch mehr über meine äußere und innere Reise.
