World Travel Pro's World Travel Plans for the remainder of 2017!
Currently I'm in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. A cozy beach town where I've been able to focus on getting this blog up and running efficiently while having my own apartment with kitchen for 8 dollars a night. Now that's a bit of backpacker paradise! (which is a coming blog title) With a beautiful beach, nice community, good food, friendly people around, and at these prices; I've got nothing to worry about. Been here almost a week now.
Here's a photo I took of the beach yesterday.
So, just the other day I finalized my plans for 2017, which means I bought some plane tickets. Cause nothing is final until you buy the tickets! In three days I'll be flying from Nicaragua to Guatemala, and spending a week in Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, a known backpacker/gringo community.
From there I'll be traveling by bus north visiting the the Mayan Ruins of Tikal in Flor, Guatemala, then crossing through Belize, up to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, just an hour south of Cancun. I'll be staying in Playa del Carmen for about 10 days or until June 29th.
I chose Playa del Carmen over Cancun because it's simply a better deal, as Cancun is more expensive, filled with high end resorts, and high end prices. In Playa del Carmen I'll get a more authentic Mexican experience, relaxed vibe, and have a better opportunity to negotiate a good hotel price.
June 29th I was able to score good one way tickets to New York City for 165 dollars, direct flight leaving out of Cancun. Once arriving in the afternoon, I'll take a bus to my home town of Albany, NY. I have not been back to the US for almost 3 years! I'll surely be in for some reverse culture shock!
My timing is perfect for my favorite holiday of 4th of July. I love my country! I'll be staying with my father at his lake side home making up for lost time until August 6th, as his birthday is August 5th. I'm really looking forward to seeing friends and family. It's been too long!
Yesterday I coincidentally pulled the trigger twice, not only did I buy my Cancun - NYC flight, I also bought a NYC - Bangkok flight. I could not pass up the deal. I've never seen such good prices, and with a perfect flight schedule on the exact day I wanted. $350 one way from New York to Bangkok, Thailand! I couldn't let that pass me by!
I haven't been to Thailand in about 5 years, and this is my favorite country on the planet. Why? That's an article for another day....and no it's certainly not for the lady boys and prostitution!
While in this region of the world I'm tempted to make my first trip to India, but I just don't have the available time for it to make sense (I'd like a good 3-6 months), so instead I'm going to investigate new locations in Thailand, and explore the one South East Asian country I have not visited, Laos. With a possible week or two in Cambodia, it's the only place on the planet where I know they serve 25 cent beer on the beach!
Come the first week of December, I'll be Flying from Bangkok to Florida, visiting more friends and family, then out to Quito Ecuador a week later, where I have some unfinished business to take care of.
That pretty much wraps up 2017. It's hard to make plans too far out, however it would make sense to tour South America, from Peru down to Buenos Aires, Argentina, then out to Spain or Portugal. But now we are into 2018. So who knows.
I'm very excited, and having a growing following on Steemit just makes it that much more special! Being able to share all that's good, all that's bad, and all sorts of helpful travel tips really brings a new sense of purpose to my travels!
Don't forget to follow me for new useful travel tips and introspective articles !
Side Note:
I'm encouraging fellow steemians to ask me travel questions.
I'll be doing a series called "Travel Questions Answered".
Free consulting will possibly save you thousands in unexpected expenses, time, and
headaches; and it's a great way for me to share my info with the community.
Questions will be turned into blog posts.
Some example question are below:
I'm a 24 year old attractive female from London, will I be safe traveling alone through central America? Any safety tips you can offer?
Besides air fair, I have 3,000 dollars. How, and for how long can I live in South East Asia?
I'll be traveling though Mexico, what are some strategies to prevent getting food poising?
Cuenca or Vilcabamba Ecuador for retirement destination; what are the pros and cons?
Compare: Vietnam VS Cambodia VS Malaysia.
I'm a 32 year old African American male, where is best to teach English: Hong Kong, Korea, or Japan?
Feel free to ask me anything you want!
Just give me a little background of who you are and your situation, so I can tailor my response to what is best for you!
I will always give a straight and honest answer, and if I don't know I'll let you know that as well.
Beautiful pictures and great information.
Thank you!
i have been on this beach in San Juan del Sur in 2012...and I am so envious of you going to Tikal next week!Tikal is one of my favourite ruins in the world! That place is the whole reason I left Australia, and found Mexico on the way... the rest is herstory... what websites do you use for flights? Do you know any banks in Central or South America which do bitcoin credit cards? Do you only have bank accounts in your home country or others? Do you consider going for residency or work visas anywhere... is there a FAQ place where you can point me if you have already answered all these questions : ) I want to pick your brains on Vietnam, Laos and Thailand as I know your experience can save me months, years of fucking around in horrible places... good recommendations can shape your whole life! I hope steemers use you and fully appreciate the benefits of word of mouth from an unsponsored source! Thanks in advance
Can't believe I missed this reply from you. Seriously, first seeing it now.
That's incredible Tikal is what drew you away from Austrailia. Yes lots of questions you have I have lots of answers. Where to begin. I'm planning on making a Travel Questions answered blog series. I'm think you may have just gotten me started. I'm too new on here to have FAQ page. Not sure if Im even tech savey enough to make one.
Banking, don't know about the bitcoin seen down here, as I'm new to that myself.
Yes I spent two years in Ecuador obtaining a permanent residency. Too long for me I'm glad I'm free to travel the world again. Had to stay in the country 9 of 12 months for the first two years, then visit once every 5 years. I get get 9% insured interest on my money now there. Certainly helps with travel expenses. 25k is the minimum investment. No I don't like getting under the thumb of work visas, the investment visa was enough. Yes I have plenty of asnwers to all the SE asia countries.
I'll mark it down to do a post about finding the best travel airline tickets. Here you can see a post about how I budget travel/ get tickets from the other day....
