Real Life Captured #131:Glens Falls New York! Part One! (10 Photos with Travel Pro Captions!)
Hey there my Steemit friends! In this "Real Life Captured Series" I do my best to bring you exactly that; the real life captured from destinations all around the world! After eleven years of travel experience my favorite thing to do is walk around! That's right, I simply like to go to foreign countries and walk around. I observe (and now photograph) the people, food, culture, way of everyday life and bring it to you in this "Real Life Captured Series".
Recently I found myself in Glens Falls New York. This is where my cousin lives, and she was gracious enough to invite me to stay with her for several weeks and make up for lost time. Before my visit I did a six month venture though many countries in South America.
After being out of the country for so long it's always interesting to just walk around and observe my fellow Americans. Sharing not only a language in common but also a heritage and background has always given me certain level of comfort. However having spent most of my adult life outside of the US, I sometimes feel like a foreigner in my own country.
Glens Falls really offers a good window into small town USA. For those viewers who are not American, especially those who have never even been to America; enjoy the photos and get a good taste of everyday life in a semi suburban area, partially urban area, and surely 100% American area.
To me, this is America in a nutshell.
Walking in this country allows you to go nowhere fast!
Look, it's superman!
It's a cellphone world!
Auctions are fun, even if they are silent!
Domino's a flag and a round about. What is more American than that?
Americans!
United States, home of the whopper!
On these streets local restaurants give little plates sampling their food for five dollars each. Not exactly the five dollar all you can eat buffets in Chiang Mai Thailand.
With over 11 years of travel experience I answer travel and international lifestyle questions. Leave a question in the comments and I may make a Steemit post just for you!
It must be a cultural shock to go home. I feel that way and I have been away from Canada for 20 years. Things aren't quite like you remember them and then there are some things that never change. Glen Falls reminds me of what I recall small-town America was. Small and intimate.
That is what I like most about Glens Falls, Small and intimate small town America. I've got two more post in this series I'm sure it will bring back memories as Canada and the US are so similar. Yes I do get a lot of culture shock when I got "home". But over the past couple years I've been stopping back in my country for a couple weeks about every six months now. So it's less intense then when I wouldn't come home for years at a time. Family is important and we are not getting any younger so I go home more often now. Thanks as always fro leaving such nice comments.
