Shafberg( Saltzgammergut, Austria)
Schafberg is located at the highest peak in Salzkammergut. There are two ways to go. By car, you can go to St.volfgang village and go to the starting point of the cog railway train (there is a parking lot nearby), or take a cruise ship to the marina in St.gilgen village (you can purchase a combi ticket including roundtrip cruise ship and a cog railway train ticket. The marina and station are connected.)
If you want to kill the time, you can stop by the cafe near the train station, or use the play facilities with the children.
It is a cog railway train to Sharfberg. It starts almost every hour, but usually stops between 17:00 and 18:00 (normal time). So you have to check the last time. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the summit on this cog railway train.
It was early May that we visited Sharfberg. The appropriate time to travel should be June, I thought. Many stores have not opened the door yet. So it was very bleak. I stayed on top for too short a time because I came up late, which have made me still feel sorry.
There are many travelers who enjoy tracing slowly without taking a train. Only staying at the top is enough to get a big impression. The lake, the towns, and the mountains of the Austrian Alps, blended with the blue sky, seemed to be just as impressed.
What you need to remember is not always the beauty of the summit due to the changing weather conditions. you can only see mist. But, even so, I strongly encourage you to go up because a great view awaits you while climbing the train.
(Tips)
If you are going on a day trip to Hallstatt and Sharfberg, it is a good idea to visit Sharfberg → Hallstatt. If you want to choose one of them, I strongly recommend you should choose Sharfberg.
There is a public parking lot about 5 minutes by walk from the entrance. At Hallstatt entrance parking lot, parking is only 30 minutes.
We recommend at least two days for Hallstatt and Sharfberg. I think you will be satisfied with any hotel in two places.
(샤프베르크)
샤프베르크는 잘츠캄머구트에서 가장 높은 봉우리에 위치해 있다. 가는 방법은 크게 두 가지 이다. 차량으로 St.volfgang 마을로 가서 톱니궤도 열차 출발지점까지 가거나(근처에 주차장이 있음), St.gilgen 마을에서 유람선을 타고 선착장에 내려서 가는 방법이다(왕복유람선과 톱니궤도 열차 콤비티켓을 구입하면 된다. 선착장과 역이 연결되어 있음.)
혹시 시간이 남는 경우에는 역 근처에 카페를 들러도 되고, 아이들과 함께라면 놀이시설을 이용해도 된다.
톱니궤도 열차는 거의 한 시간 마다 있다고 보면 되는데, 보통 17시-18시 사이(정상기준)에 운행이 종료가 되기 때문에 막차 시간을 반드시 확인해야 한다. 이 톱니궤도 열차를 타고 30분 정도면 정상에 도달한다.
우리 가족 여행은 5월 초라 아직은 한산했다. 여행을 하기 적당한 시기는 6월은 되어야 하는 것 같았다. 아직 오픈하지 않은 가게와 늦게 오르는 바람에 짧은 시간만 정상을 볼 수 있었던 것이 내내 아쉬웠다.
굳이 열차를 타고 왕복을 하지 않고, 천천히 트래킹을 즐기는 여행객도 많다. 하지만, 정상에서 머무는 것만으로도 큰 감동을 받기에는 충분하다. 호수와 어우러진 마을, 파란 하늘과 어우러진 오스트리아 알프스의 산맥들, 그냥 그 자체가 감동이었던 것 같다. 그래도 멋진 뷰를 볼 수 있는 행운은 누구에게나 찾아오는 것은 아닌 것 같다.
정상의 변화무쌍한 날씨 때문에 안개만 보고 올 수도 있다. 하지만, 그렇다 하더라도 반드시 올라가 볼 것을 권한다.
열차를 타고 올라가는 동안 멋진 뷰가 기다리고 있기 때문이다.
(Tips)
할슈타트와 샤프베르크를 당일치기로 다녀올 분 들은 샤프베르크 → 할슈타트 순으로 관광하는 것이 좋다. 둘 중 하나를 선택하라면 당연히 샤프베르크 정상을 선택한다.
자동차를 이용해서 갈 경우에는 걸어서 5분 정도 거리에 공용주차장이 있다. 할슈타트 입구 주차장에서는 30분밖에 주차를 못한다.
되도록 할슈타트 1일, 샤프베르크 1일을 추천한다. 숙소는 둘 중 어느 곳이라도 좋다. 그렇게 투자할 만한 가치가 있다.
