Krakow, Poland: 21 may 2019 [part 2]

Undoubted today the Krakow is the cultural and tourist capital of Poland which is attracts millions of tourists by variety of ancient streets, fortifications, original monuments of architecture and art, diversity of cultural events. Krakow is located on the south of Poland on a Vistula river in the area of Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The population of the city is a bit less of a 1 million. I agree that this is a unique city, created by generations of masters and artists of the Middle Ages, renaissance, baroque and art nouveau, happily escaped from world wars destructions, unceasing delight of the magical atmosphere of local cafes, restaurants, beer bars, cellars and jazz clubs. Before the 18th century, the coronation ceremonies of Polish kings were held in Krakow. In the city lived most time of his life two Nobel laureate in literature, Czeslaw Milosz and Wisława Szymborska, as well as honorary citizen of Krakow, Stanisław Lem. In Krakow located famous Muzeum XX. Czartoryskich, which holds a picture of Leonardo da Vinci "Lady with an Ermine" the only work of this artist in the country, which is a matter of pride. In 1655 the city was taken for the first time by the Swedes and was looted by them. In the year 1734 the last coronation takes place on the Wawel Royal Castle. The last king of Poland Stanisław August Poniatowski chose the place of his coronation already in the cathedral in Warsaw. In the 18TH century, the Swedish, Russian and Prussian armies were plundered Krakow many times. After the exile of Napoleon, the city was occupied by Russian troops for 2 years. And then under the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties in 1815 the year, Krakow becomes the free city.
