Taroko National Park: Zhuilu Old Trail 太魯閣: 錐麓古道

Zhuilu Old Trail is one of the famous hiking trails at Taroko National Park. Part of the trail is relatively dangerous, therefore a permit is required to enter.

The first part of the trail is a bit steep, but not difficult. Although much of the trail is shaded, remember to bring enough water, as you can get dehydrated easily in summer.

Toward the end of the trail is Zhuilu Cliff, which is spectacular. On one side is a cliff hundreds of meter deep, on the other side is a wall of rock so tall you can't see the top. There is a rope you can hang on to, but if there is another person walking toward you from the opposite direction, then it will get a bit scary and awkward as both of you will want to stay on the safe side.

It's incomprehensible to me how such trail is constructed at the first place. It's a fine example of how human being conquers mother nature, temporarily perhaps. If Taroko National Park is already on your travel radar, then go ahead and take on Zhuilu Old trail. You will be awed and be glad you visited this magnificent trail.

太魯閣的錐麓古道一直是我嚮往的一條登山步道. 主要原因是網上看到大家拍的照片都很美(只是我們自己都拍不出來). 後來在一次的花東行, 趁老婆對這步道沒什麼概念的情況下, 趕緊把她加到行程裡.

想去錐麓古道的山友一定要先申請登山許可證, 因為她其中一段路線算是比較有危險性. 登山出入口也的確有工作人員點名確認. 我們當天看到好多遊客臨時起意想登山卻無法如願.

錐麓古道對我來說也算是頗有難度, 我老婆也差一點想放棄. 但是跟我們一同入山的一群歪果人一直用英文吐槽我老婆的爬坡速度(大概認為我們聽不懂吧), 她在被激怒的情況下, 越戰越勇, 終於我們走到最期待的路段--錐麓斷崖.

錐麓斷崖是一段貼著峭岩陡壁的碎石子路. 她的一邊是斷崖, 一邊是垂直的巨岩. 寬度大約可容納兩個人錯身, 不過每次遇到要錯身的時候, 大家都往岩壁靠, 想把對方擠向斷崖 🤣 .

走在斷崖上, 真的好吃驚當初是花費多少心力打出這麼一條鬼斧神工的小徑. 往下幾百公尺還可以看到在中橫公路往來穿梭的汽車. 本來以為自己會腳抖, 但後來卻越走越慢, 忍不住想多看幾眼, 畢竟這種景色平時不容易看到呀.

在稍作休息後, 我們開始原路遣返, 安全抵達入口. 一路喊累的老婆也覺得不虛此行. 這種路線真的要趁著還有一絲決心的時候趕緊完成. 畢竟我後來看其他好多朋友, 都是直奔太魯閣晶英酒店. 😅
