Sri Lanka is a small tear-shaped island country located on the south coast of India which has attracted many travelers throughout centuries. Arab, European, and Indian travelers for centuries flocked to the Sri Lanka's palm filled shores to enjoy its beauty, lush green tea gardens, buy spices, precious stones, and elephants. Sri Lankan cuisine is world class and is a true culinary treat. There are many luxury hotels to choose from on the coast of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is the place to be if you want to relax by the beach and eat exotic sea cuisines. It can be the perfect destination for a honeymoon, for couples, and family. Leaving the obvious beauty of the island country Sri Lanka also has many ancient Buddist sites and indigenous tribe which can take you back in time.

Sigiriya

Sigiriya is a mysterious remain of the 5th-century fortress of the famous King Kasyapa which is located overlooking the vast plain and jungle. It is a famous archaeological site in Asia which has been declared as a World Heritage Site. The high light of the site is the 1500-year old painted frescoes on its walls.
Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa is the ancient city dating back to the 12th century. It is famous for its stone sculpture and the Gal Vihara which comprises of three enormous Buddha figures. Polonnaruwa is the best site where you can find the glories of medieval Sri Lanka is celebrated.
Kandy

Kandy is a hill city of Sri Lanka known for its attractive man-made lake and the Esala Perahera Festival held in August. This festival is also known as the Kandy Festival where thousands of people from the country and elephants parade in the courtyards of the temple. If you are in Kandy, you should visit the ornate Dalada Maligawa also known as the temple of the tooth.
Colombo

The capital city of Sri Lanka is well known for its restaurants, luxury hotels, cafes, and government residences. In this city, you can enjoy the best of Sri Lankan food and hospitality. Colombo is a great place to experience the modern lifestyle of the rich and the famous of Sri Lanka.
As Marco Polo once said, Sri Lanka is truly one of the finest islands of its size in the world. It is a fine example of the old world meeting the new.
