Journey With No Destination - Day 1715 - Boardman River and the Brown Bridge Quiet Trail

Camp: Scheck's Place Trail Camp
Near Traverse City, Michigan
Day 178 of my "Heading East Tour."

Only 2 miles from my campsite, in the Scheck's Trail Camp, the Brown Bridge Quiet Trail can be accessed at two parking areas along Boardman Bridge Road. The trail starts on top of a ridge overlooking the Boardman River. The trail takes you to the river via wooden stairs of 234 and 264 steps at two separate locations. Part of the trail along the river is a boardwalk that is about 800 feet long. It leads one about a foot above the ground through some dense woods.

The river is now a natural free flowing river after a dam was removed in 2012. The water was too cold and for me to swim, but would be great fun for canoers, kayakers and inner tubers.
