[Travel #1]Taipei Tourism: Best of Taipei, Taiwan

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Taipei is a popular travel destination, indisputably, but have you gone beyond the labyrinth of high-rise buildings and gridlocks of night markets? With a strong Chinese and Japanese influence, and a tinge of Western flavor, this cosmopolitan city is friendly and easily adapted to for all travelers.

If you're planning to visit Taipei, check out my list of must visit places when you are in Taipei.

1.) Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (中正纪念堂)

Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall  is a national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is a very quiet place located in the center of Taipei. A great place to start your journey.

2.) Shilin Official Residence (士林官邸)

The Shilin Official Residence is the former residence of late Republic of China President Chiang Kai-shek. The area is covered by green, you can capture a lot of beautiful scenery with your camera. You can walk around here for a whole evening.

3.)National Palace Museum (台北故宫博物院)

has a permanent collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artworks, making it one of the largest of its type in the world. You can also buy creative souvenirs. If you like to learn more about history, this is the place where you go.

4.) Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf(渔人码头台北)

Watch sunset on the lover bridge in Fisherman’s Wharf, romantic to the max!!

5.) Tamsui Old Street (淡水老街)

Best place to have your breakfast / lunch. Must try food:  LaoPai Fish Ball (老牌 可口鱼丸) , AXiang Shrimp Rolls (阿香虾卷), APo Iron Egg (阿婆鐵蛋) , XuYi Fish Cracker (許義魚穌) , Black Gold Legend Brown Sugar Ginger Tea (黑金传奇黑糖姜母茶)  and also  83 Coffee (83号咖啡) .

6.)Presidential Office Building(总统府)

If you want to know more about Taiwan history, don’t miss out this place. It’s a place where you must visit when you are travelling.

7.)Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (国父纪念馆)

If you're lucky, you'll might be able to catch the guard shifting ceremony. It has a great view on the Taipei 101.

8.) Taipei 101 (台北101大楼)

Tallest building in Taipei. Best time to go is at night. You will be able to see the beautiful night view of Taipei. If you love shopping, there’s also shopping center in the building.

9.)Takemura Izakaya (竹村居酒屋)

Serves Japanese cuisine. Good food with reasonable price. Recommended food: roast chicken, Japanese egg roll, beef and chicken skewers.Don’t forget to order their alcoholic beverage.

10.)  Ximending (西门町)

Ximending is a neighborhood and shopping district. You can spend 3 to 4 hours here to shop and eat.

11.)  Yongkang Street (永康街)

If you like to try Taiwan snacks, come to Yongkang Street because it is famous with it’s snacks. Must try food: Yongkang beef noodle (永康牛肉面).

12.) Shi Da Night Market (师大夜市)

For me, it is better than Shilin Night Market(士林夜市), because more students and youngster hang out at ShiDa Night Market. If you are a foodie, you definitely must come to this place. And also don’t forget to try their local fruit.

I know that there are still a lot of places I didn't mention. Feel free to leave a comment tell us the reason why you think we should visit that place. Thank you.

I love Taipei too, thanks for your comment

I will visit Taipei someday and this is quite helpful! Definitely looking for street food. Heard that the fish ball noodles is the best, and the fried chicken is bigger than your face.

Always wanted to go

Trust me, you will love the place

That's funny, I just came back from my semester abroad in Taipei, studied at NCCU and lived right behind Shi'Da night market, haha. Did you visit Taipei for vacation?

Ya, I went there as my graduation trip
