My Trip to Nepal | Exploring the Astonishing Kathmandu, Pokhara and Annapurna Valley |
Hi Steemit Friends,
If you are an adventure lover and you are determined to explore lavish places, I suggest that you should try visiting Nepal. Recently, I got a chance to visit the beautiful country that is rich in culture and provide a remarkable adventure to satisfy your appetite for travel and desire of craziness. This is the first article in “My Nepal Visit Log, ” and in this article, I’ll start from scratch. I am desperate to share my adventure details with my travel geek audience. So, Let’s start now and here!
Why visit Nepal?
First of all, people may ask me that there are a lot of other travel destinations all over the world with a decent reputation. So, why I only chose Nepal?
Well, first of all, we all know that the country is home to some best trekking routes that you can find all over the globe. Regions like Annapurna and lake city of Pokhara surely provides you rich scenery. If you are a wildlife lover, there are different animals that you can find. Particularly, for bird watchers, there are 856 different known species that are present in the area.
Moreover, for people like me, that are adventure seekers, the mountaineering, trekking, rafting, bungee jumping and a number of other sports are present. Thus, you get an amazing way to fulfill your desire for adventure. Then there are a few amazing places that you get to see and are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
For the people that are conscious about the budget, my travel experience suggests that it is a place where most of the people can go. You get great value for money.
Exploring Kathmandu Valley
Enough of the reasons! We will talk about that later in some other article. I can’t wait to share with you the lavish experience I had in Kathmandu Valley.
As soon as I landed in the area, I went out, and there was ‘namaste’ (meaning hello) everywhere. These people are kind to tourists and appreciate if you compliment them with a few dollars. During my visit to the area, there are a few things that I enjoyed. I had to visit the World Heritage Sites, and for that, I took the bemo. It was a unique public transport that was not too luxurious but certainly great if you are looking to experience something different.
Then, I found out that you can have some of the tastiest foods in the world in Nepal. And that too at a pretty low price. They have their traditional names for dishes that a foreigner might not be able to pronounce properly. However, when you put it in your mouth, your taste buds will send positive signals to your brain.
Boudhanath
Visiting Kathmandu and not going to Boudhanath would be criminal. It is among the places in Nepal where you will get a lot of holy sites. It is just about a few kilometers from Boudhanath. As soon as I reached there, I realized that why it is the largest stupa in Nepal. Moreover, considering the temples and the Buddhist culture there, it is of no surprise that this place is the most famous Tibetan Buddhist monastery. The Boudhanath Stupa was said to be built around 600 A.D., and you get the historic feel inside yourself that it is a place of some importance when you step there.
Annapurna Mountain Region
If someone wishes to see the Nepali culture at its best, go and visit the Annapurna. You will get to see the true colors of Nepal and lifestyle of people out there as you get to sleep in villages and meet with the locals. There was sheer brilliance when you talk about the scenery. What I disliked was that the place could be tough and be challenging for many people. I myself had some back pains and calf strains while I was roaming around the mountains and trekking. If you are not a professional, be careful and bring a little help with you when you come to visit Annapurna. Eat like a King, and still, you will find out that everything is affordable
Enjoying the adventure that Pokhara offers
If you plan to visit Nepal and do not have Pokhara on your list of places to go, rearrange your list. Pokhara is a city which is known for its natural beauty. You get to sit under the shadow of magnificent and exquisite Himalayas. Though I am an adventure lover, still it took my heart out, and my breath was heavy when I did the bungee jump. Yet it gave me a memory of a lifetime, something that I will not forget till my last breath.
Along with bungee, other mentionable things were the stunning paragliding above the clouds, the crazy and tilting shifting zip flyers, an ultra light flight which use machines that you may doubt and the mountain biking.
Along with that, there is also a lakeside to the place where you can enjoy rich experiences that include fishing (to my luck I caught 3 in an hour) and boating. I planned a three day trip to Pokhara, but it was extended to 4 days due to my visit to Devi’s Fall, World Peace Pagoda, old bazaar and the caves.
The tasty food of Nepal
When you are in Nepal, you will surely try to have some decent food. I suggest that when you visit Nepal, leave the fast food and the home food desires aside. Try to enjoy the local food which is solid in taste and great in price. I am going to mention some of my favorites.
The Daal Bhaat Tarkaari Achaar, or something similar they say, is a dish given to you which comes with lentil, rice, vegetable, and pickle. Mixing them all together and enjoying the fresh leafy green vegetable with daal bhaat (lentil and rice) will make your day.
Aloo ko Achaar will change the way you use potatoes in your daily routine. It is a mixture of potatoes with achaar that they cook in a unique way. It can also be referred to as the potato salad with sesame seeds. At many occasions, you will find other meals being served with this dish as a complimentary.
The other worth mentioning foods include the Khasi ko Maasu which is Nepali Goat Curry, Momos, and Sel-Roti.
I guess that this is enough for today. There are plenty more things with you to discuss, but due to a shortage of time, we will do it any other day.
