#Travel dairy- Hampi
Helloo friends,
How are you all..?? Today i want to share my experiences with you about my travel to HAMPI which is one of UNESCO world heritage site.
This name will be quite familiar to all the INDIANS out there but may be new to others. Today i want to introduce this historical place to all of you.
HAMPI
This place has a great importance in the history and its one the worlds top trading centre at that time stood in second place after beijing.
As per my knowledge is concerned, this was built by vijayanagara dynasty during 14th century. Across a vast area they many architectural monuments, temples and pillar halls. They encouraged the art of sculptures and thats the reason HAMPI now became a world heritage centre. Every single monument is a masterpiece of great sculpturing.
As this place is at the banks of river Tungabadra, trading was at its peaks during that period. As trading is high, the kingdom used to be so prosperous and thats the reason many other kingdoms tried to occupy that place.
Finally, vijayanagara dynasty was defeated by Mughals and many of these architectural monuments and temples were destroyed and abandoned. This place reflects the cultural practices and traditions of south indians. Forgot to say, this place is situated in karnataka and if you ever visits India please make time to see this beautiful place.
This is the river Tungabadra what i said about previously and now this shore was not so busy for trading.
The people at that time were so crazy that they even didn’t leave hills, they built many temples even there. Here is a pic of one such temple were Sadhus are residing.
And not but not the least, the STONE CHARIOT of *vittala temple, which is the special feature of this monuments. As when we see a pic of Taj mahal we will get the name of India into our mind and like so we get the name of Hampi when we see this stone chariot.
STONE CHARIOT.
Many people says that there was a pillar over this chariot which was removed or destroyed during wars.
But still its the centre of attraction for many. You can see a mandapa just behind the chariot in the pic, this mandapa( hall) was built with many pillars, each of different lengths, diameter and shapes and produce musical sounds when they are striked.
Its said that this hall was used during celebrations and musical festivals. This was my story of travel to hampi and i suggest everyone in India to visit it once, with friends if possible as elders can’t climb the hills or cover this large area.
And my friends from other countries, when you are a trip to India, come to south india and have a visit to such beautiful places.
Thanks everyone, hope you like my post and if possible share your experiences so that we can visit your place once.
This is the final pic of mine on that day with my friends, sitting on the top of hill and having a look at the place. Entire Hampi was constructed with proper order and symmetry. You can see it from this hill.
Thank you everyone.
God bless you. https://steemit.com/@biblegateway
