Lake Van in eastern Turkey.

According to scientists, Lake Van is many millions of years old. It is a huge unique reservoir, the water of which is a complex and saturated chemical solution, somewhat reminiscent of the composition of the water from the much more famous Dead Sea in the Middle East.

The water in the lake is six times brighter than sea water and most importantly contains in incredible amounts of soda. It is worth to swim - you will become clean, as if using the best soap, such is its chemical composition.

The mountains protect the lake from cold winds, and the waters of the lake soften the climate, which allows you to grow amazing fruits and flowers. It is the biggest "soda lake" in the world.

There is not a single pasture around Lake Van, but in its water rheumatism or arthritis is treated by local old people. In the lake, there is a unique fish called "pearl mullet", which is nowhere else on the globe.

At the entrance to the city of Van all are welcome by two huge statues of white cats. Only in such an unusual place, probably, could appear the only cats in the world who love and know how to swim and fish perfectly. They are called "Van cats". If you are lucky, then in the early morning you can watch how the animals make a real swim. Each cat is very appreciated and protected by law, their export is possible only if there is an official permit. It is believed that these cats are marked by the blessing of Allah. This is indicated by specific bands on the muzzle, from the nose to the front edge of the ear, and eyes of different colors - green and blue.
