Motorcycle travel series by @velimir 'Zagorje 54' (Part #164)

As I enter the mansion, a spacious yard opens in front of me. It is larger than it looked from the outside. Apart from the outside floor tiled with pebbles and bricks, the collonade is quite impressive, as well. The Oršić mansion seems to live its second youth. Wish there were more of these mansions renovated in Croatia. This gives me an idea to visit a ruined one. There must be loads of them nearby.

This statue of "Petrica Kerempuh" catches my attention. There is the exact same one at a little square close to the Zagreb's green market. Petrica is an imagined fictional character appearing in several Croatian literary works from 19th and the beginning of 20th century. He is a people's prophet and a cynical commentator of daily events of that time.

This looks like an archaeological find, rather than a part of the mansion. Maybe it is something that was here before the mansion. Well, it is something. They wouldn't just leave a corner of a wall here for no reason. :)

(After investigating, I found out these were indeed remnants of a 12th-century medieval fortress which stood at the same spot. It was called "Samci".)

The south-west corner.

And...this is where I'll have my coffee right now! Right there, left from the old well! :)
Check out these cobblestones!

Enjoy your day! :)

Very cool trip!

Very educational post! Thank you very much. These photos are full of old atmosphere as if they could transport one feeling back to the 12th century!
Perhaps, there's a mental portal around the area!
Look at those white arches, they are all the same! How could they build with such precision!

The stones from the ancient wall has the same kind of stones on the ground! They may come from the same area! It is amazing that you could bring old building and arches back to life! They are living now.

Cheers.

:) thank you for this thoughts. really appreciated!

Nice post!

I really admire the sophisticated details of the art of old places like this. The toughness of the architectural structures are great and very awesome, to withstand and stood still after a very long time. I could also commend the delicate renovations that had been done to preserve its unique style.
Upvoted and resteemed.
More power and keep up the good work!
