'The King Of The Streets'

I find Miljenko playing his accordion in the downtown area, trying to cheer up people who are too busy to stop and spend a few minutes listening to his tunes. He is a music teacher. He's been teaching kids music for many years but today, he says, playing on the streets pays better. This is a shame of our society, to be honest.

His fingers quickly find the right places. It is obvious that the man is enjoying himself more than one can tell at the first sight.

But, he also tells me that playing in the streets brings much joy and satisfaction to him. He loves to be in the sun, breath fresh air and finds indoors to be quite boring. A cheerful tune of an old folk song fills the street as he stops talking and starts to play.

A true free spirit stops playing and starts talking to me, again. The joy he radiates is contagious. We speak for a few minutes. He tells me about hows and whys of his music. Interesting.

A huge crowd of tourists appears from nowhere. Miljenko stops talking and hugs his accordion. The cheerful music flows through the air, once again. I leave the happy man enjoying his melodies and sit on my bike.

Enjoy your day! :-)

From our little boy, as a baby, we have been introduced to different types or genres of music. Maybe not as much now, but already from small we already know the music.

You will agree that there is music that affects the atmosphere and better coloring your days when traveling, whether at home, school, college, office, or hangout, perhaps. It is now easier for us to listen to music or watch music festivals, as we have developed technology to listen to music through gadgets wherever we are.

Scientists from the University of Missouri found that there is music that affects the mood of those who listen to it. "Your research results support what people have done: listen to music to improve their mood," says the lead scientist. Based on research conducted by Ferguson, Positive Psychology, people can improve mood and increase their happiness in just 2 weeks, by removing the music.

In their study, study participants were asked to listen to music to improve their mood, but this only succeeded in making music with Copeland's quick taps, and was less successful with slightly softened music from Stravinsky. Other participants, asked to listen to music without any intention of changing mood, did not report an increase in happiness. "People can focus more on the journey of happiness, and are not fixated on freedom."

It is incredibly sad that he makes more money playing music on the street than he does as a teacher. This is a huge issue and we have so many great teachers walking away from the profession because they are not fairly compensated. I always enjoy listening to street musicians. They play with a passion and a desire to entertain.

Awesome, you'll probably never see an accordion player on the streets here in Montreal lol It's awesome to see him enjoying his passion. I can relate when I share my art. I hope you have an awesome day too, thanks for sharing your adventures with us.

Miljenko true accordion lover . He love music from his heart .
But it was really a shameful matter that we are not giving him exact value.
He is old now but still playing accordion in the street for money . such a shameful thing for our society . People should help him and give him exact value of his talent .

Miljenko is really remarkable. I liked this music teacher, for many years he has been teaching children music. Such a great music teacher like this is giving people the joy of the road. Really very best. . Your travel history has always made me very happy dear @velimir

Wow. How touching to see a teacher play for everyone one the streets.
His "decorations" and the old suitcase that we do not see anymore just goes to say so much words cannot describe.
Thank you for this post.

This should be a wake up call that musicians should be given better considerations because it's really a shame to hear it from them that "it pays better playing in the street" than teaching others to learn music. Teaching should be treated the right way or teachers like him will one day lost.

Loved your post about this encounter with Mr Miljenko and his accordion - I almost felt I met him as well...
