This past weekend in QLD was a long weekend, and the Brunswick Heads Blade Battle AKA The NSW Titles was on !! So we packed our Kia Rio and made the mission for the first NSW rollerblading titles in like 11 years.

This also happens to be my birthday weekend, so was the perfect weekend away to celebrate. Here are the quick stats from the weekend of drinking and skating in numbers.

One 10 bed Airbnb, one blown car tyre , three metal bands, one rollerblade titles, 2.5 kg of bacon, 48 eggs, four cartons of beer, four bottles of liquor, four bottles of wine, 18 ciders, one free hip hop gig, one broken tooth and surprisingly only one noise complaint!

So on the friday I finished work early, Sk and Nat came around and we packed the car to the brim then headed out to pick up Renee from work in Brisbane city, then we had to drive to Gold Coast airport to pick up Scowie. This drive would normally take 1 and a half hours. But considering it was the start to a long weekend everyone in Brisbane had the same idea to get the hell out of town. So we were stuck in a traffic jam on the highway for about 3 hours to get to the airport.

We picked up Scowie and started to head to the Airbnb. We got back onto the highway and about 17 minutes into the drive the car starts shaking,... we are fully loaded with 5 of us plus all our luggage and merch for the competition. We think it might be the road but we are doing 110kph and the shaking is getting worse and worse. I finally decide to pull over and check the wheels.. The back right tyre was hissing at us and it had a large egg in it with metal wire sticking out. Luckily we had a spare, it is quite bald but that was better than a tyre that was moments away from blowing out completely. We take it easy the rest of the way and finally make it safely to our Airbnb.

Once we settled into our new pad for the weekend, Mitch was already there and had some beers and ribs waiting for us. Top Bloke !. Butter Fingers was playing a free set at the Brunswick Hotel. So Nat got straight onto getting a taxi which ended up being a lot harder then expected haha after getting put onto about 4 different numbers to book a cab about 1 hour later a maxi taxi rocks up and takes us to the gig!

Butter Fingers are always GREAT live and was great to see they are back together after a 10 year or so break. Got to meet the guys after the show and they all signed this poster for me, bloody legends!

The gig finished relatively early and we heard that the other guys from Melbourne just arrived at Bretts house so we went over there to catch up.

Now I'm not going to lie, we all enjoy a drink every now and again, so our joke was that we are borderline alcoholics but once we crossed the border to NSW we would all be full alcoholics for the weekend. We all had a lot of laughs and the grind box was out and the boys had a late night jam on the box.

We got home and had 3am breakfast and mimosas haha great way to jump the gun the night before the comp :)

Next morning we cook up a huge feed for second breakfast and ran a little late for the comp. Once we got there the Bowl comp was underway.

After the bowl comp it was straight into the park comp where some huge trick were thrown down!

Scowie's 900 out of the bowl won the VC best trick award.

So the comp was done and dusted for another year and was an amazing turn out.

Massive shout out to Brett and Bert for putting on a kick ass event!! LEGENDS!!

The Bowl also had some very inspiration words for us all.

Don't be a salad. Be the best dam Broccoli you can be !

We all headed home for showers and to get ready for the after party at the Billinudgel Hotel. This pub is a full old school Aussie pub, we had a couple of steaks for dinner then the first metal band started and the drinks began to flow. By the time Elephant was on everyone was nice and lit so it got pretty rowdy :)

After the band they called last drinks and there was this super cracked out drunk mullet head guy that claimed that he worked at the venue trying to kick us out claiming that he had a knife and we had to leave NOW hahaha what a loser I told him to fuck off and leave my mate alone... Mullets and Meth what a fucked up combo.
After the very reluctant courtesy bus ride back to our place, we had some more drinks then I crashed out and everyone else went to the beach.

The next day we stocked up on bacon and eggs and had a huge cook up and washed it all down with some Bloody Marys.

A trip down to the beach and more beers with bulk shit talking was how the day was spent.

On Monday morning we got the back two tyres changed with new ones so we wouldn't have any blowouts on the way home, then headed back to Brisbane just in time for SK to catch his flight back to Melbourne.

Mission Accomplished.

Brunswick Heads is a really nice place to visit and if you are ever in northern NSW it is definitely worth stopping in for a night or two.
