Nach gemütlichem Frühstücken machten wir uns auf den Weg ins nicht mehr weit entfernte Trondheim. Mal wieder etwas mehr Menschen zu sehen war eine willkommene Abwechslung. Der Verkehr wurde immer dichter je näher wir der Stadt kamen, es gab aber keinerlei Stau oder sonstige Störungen. Auch in der Stadt selber rollt der Verkehrt mühelos. Liegt wohl auch daran das man für die Innenstadt Maut bezahlen muss. Einzig das Parkieren kann je nach Fahrzeug schwierig werden, da es vor allem Parkhäuser mit geringer Höhe gibt.
Unser erstes Ziel war die Festung Kristiansten. Der Ausblick über ganz Trondheim ist wunderbar und der Eintritt sogar frei.

After a long breakfast we made our way to the not far away Trondheim. To see more people again was a welcome change. The traffic became denser the closer we got to the city, but there was no traffic jam or other disturbances. Even in the city itself, the traffic rolls easily. May be it is because you have to pay toll for the city center. Only parking can be difficult depending on the vehicle, as there are especially low-level car parks.
Our first destination was the fortress Kristiansten. The view over Trondheim is wonderful and the entrance even free.

Nach dem kurzen Stopp suchten wir uns ein Hotel, um unser Auto zu parken und die Stadt zu Fuss zu erkunden. Wie erwähnt war die Parkplatzsuche etwas schwierig, wir fanden aber schliesslich ein Aussenplatz für einen Tag. Anschliessend schlenderten wir am Fluss Nidelva mit seinen alten und farbigen Speicherhäusern entlang und gönnten uns eine Pizza.

After this short stop, we looked for a hotel to park our car and explore the city on foot. As mentioned, the search for a parking space was a bit difficult, but we finally found an outdoor space for one day. Then we strolled along the river Nidelva with its old and colorful storage houses and treated ourselves to a pizza.

Als nächstes stand der grosse Dom auf unserer Liste. Der Eintritt ist unserer Meinung nach nicht ganz günstig aber es lohnt sich. Die Grösse und Detailverliebtheit die dieses Bauwerk bietet ist beeindruckend. Auch der Touristenandrang hält sich in Grenzen. Schade, aber kaum verwunderlich: es dürfen im inneren des Doms keine Fotos gemacht werden. Als letztes war noch der alte Marktplatz dran, doch leider befand sich dieser im Umbau und die Besichtigung war nicht sehr lohnenswert.

*Next on our list was the Dom. Admission is in our opinion not very cheap, but it is worth it. The size and attention to detail that this building offers is impressive. The tourist rush is limited. It's a pity, but hardly surprising: it is not allowed to take pictures inside the cathedral.

The last thing we wanted to visit was the old market place, but unfortunately it was under construction and the visit was not very valuable.*

Am nächsten Morgen brachen wir gut ausgeruht in Richtung des nördlichen Polarkreises auf. Dafür haben wir uns zwei Tage eingeplant. Die Distanzen hier und das langsame vorankommen, da es keine Autobahnen hier oben gibt, raubt viel Zeit aber lässt einen auch die Natur geniessen.

The next morning, we started well rested in direction of the Arctic Circle. We have planned for that about two days. The distances here and the slow progress, as there are no highways up here, takes a lot of time but also lets you enjoy nature.
