Of course, this is not a city, but a small town. But very sweet. The correct name of this place is "Sveti Vlas" - in Bulgarian. Because of the Cyrillic alphabet and the external similarity of the language, I constantly "translate" the Bulgarian names into Russian, and this should not be done. However, I'm not the only one - they all do that. But this does not console me 😊

Sveti Vlas

The town of Sveti Vlas is located on the southern coast of Bulgaria on the Stara Planina Mountain in the place where this mountain slopes smoothly into the Black Sea. That is, it is no longer as high as in the center of the country. This mountain conditionally divides the Bulgarian coast into the northern and southern parts. So, Sveti Vlas is located on the southern side of the mountain, and from that - the northern is the town-resort Obzor.

To get from Sofia to Sveti Vlas you can by car - about 500 kilometers, by bus - about 35 BGN (17 euros) ticket, and by train - the truth, only to Bourgas (about 30 BGN (15 euros) ticket), from Bourgas it is necessary will take a taxi (about 100 levs (50 euros) or on a bus (10 lv - 5 euros).

From St. Vlas to Nessebar is only 10 kilometers, and to Bourgas 30. Between St. Vlas and Nessebar is Sunny Beach.

Sveti Vlas as a settlement was founded by Thracians and, they say, was called "Larissa", and in the 14th century it was renamed "Sveti Vlas".

The seaside resort this place was declared in 1973, and the city it became only in 2006th.

The town is located on the slope of the mountain and therefore there is a big denival there. People live here permanently, but below Sveti Vlas, closer to the sea, there is a real resort area, built up by hotels, where only tourists live in the summer and some strange people (all year round) who have bought apartments for permanent residence here.

This resort area is divided into a very beautiful part of the "Dinevi Resort" and not so beautiful - just "Sveti Vlas". The matter is that the complex "Dinevi Resort" together with the yacht port was built by one owner. More precisely, the brothers Dinevi - local residents, once started here organized construction and now own this huge resort complex (the effect of socialism). But since not all the local land here they got - the other part of the resort has a point development. That is, these complexes belong to each different owner.

In the town of Sveti Vlas there is no public transport, because it is not needed here. Just on the main square buses come from neighboring resorts and cities and take or bring all comers. The fare in these buses varies depending on the distance, so conductors go with electronic devices issuing special tickets.

Until the 20-ies of the last century in St. Vlas lived mainly Greeks, then they left these places, but several families remained.

From the indigenous population in the city there are just over 4000 people - the rest are Russian property owners. That is, in summer the population of Sveti Vlas increases several times primarily due to them and tourists.

In St. Vlas there is a temple in 1865 - St. Anastasia the Great. Below - at the resort of Dinevi Resort, there is another temple, but a new one, it was built by the brothers for their needs. It is said that once in this area there were four monasteries, but all of them were destroyed by the Turks

I'm well acquainted with the whole Bulgarian coast, in some places I did not just drive / walk, but also lived a little and I think that Sveti Vlas is the most beautiful resort on the southern coast of Bulgaria.

Not only because of good Dinev building, but also because of the picturesque mountain. In other southern Bulgarian resorts there is no such denivination and such beautiful species.
