The pearl of Bulgarian tourism
Seven Rila Lakes
In 75 kilometers from Sofia (on the other road 83 km) there is an incredibly beautiful tourist place: a group of glacial lakes on the Rila mountain.
This is the most popular tourist destination in Bulgaria. As they say, the people's path to these places does not overgrow ever. Moreover, there are comrades who go to these lakes even in winter. What I personally think is absolute stupidity. Because the lakes freeze and sweep up with snow. The fact that they are at a fairly high altitude, between 2095 and 2535 meters above sea level, and no civilization and even decent vegetation there.
In my opinion, in order to enjoy the beauty of the lakes and the surrounding mountains, it is necessary to go to these places from July to October. And then warmly dress, take with you sunscreen, dry rations, diapers for adults and sunglasses of the highest category.
About diapers everything is very simple - there are no toilets, urns, or even bushes (sorry) that somewhere to pee, and the people very much. And this I'm not talking about those days when various religious sects, such as the White Brotherhood, gather at the Rila Lakes - then there's no place for the apple to fall, although it's a vast territory. Simply, it is clearly visible from the tops due to its "baldness." However, all this is clear from the photos. It is a pity that these photos can not feel all the beauty, color, space and extraterrestrial unreality of these places.
Each of the seven Rila Lakes has its own name: Sylzata, Okoto, Bubreka (kidney), Bliznak, Shamrock, Ribnoto Lake and Dolnoto Lake (Lower Lake). The rest did not translate, because I think that is understandable. Lakes are clean and transparent, but rather deep - 28 and even 37 meters. At the very height in the lake "Tear" nothing grows and is not found and from there you can drink water.
How to get to the lakes
There are several ways. I know only one. To get to Pionerska station, put the car there, take the lift, go to the Rilski lake hut (station), and there already go on foot or ride a horse. I do not recommend the latter - I really did not like it.
The horses are small, stunted, walk and swing, there are no saddles, and some wooden structures, which have no stirrups. With unaccustomed very painful legs, because all the way this garbage slides off the horse sideways and must be balanced so as not to fall. On these dead horses, two people are also planted. In general, I'm very glad that the poor horse did not fall over the weight of our bodies and did not break our legs. It does not go on level ground, but on some rut, rearranging its legs one ahead of the other.
Take Finnish sticks and go yourself - it will be safer, healthier, cheaper and more humane. For horses, as well as for the lift, you have to pay. In this area there are three huts where you can have a snack and spend the night. Call it all the hotel and the restaurant can not - just so that the travelers here did not die at all.
However, it is not necessary to spend the night here - you can see all the lakes in a few hours. Wear good, comfortable shoes.
Not far from the Rila Lakes, there is the famous Rila Monastery. They say even before it can be reached on the trail, but we have not tried it.
Thank you for your time and attention.
