Salaries in Bulgaria

in #travel6 years ago

To understand the level of life in the country, one must visit it, if not live. There are no other ways) All other representations will always be mistaken and supplemented with your own imagination, even if you know all the statistics on the country and read tons of blogs. However, the idea of prices and salaries makes it possible to orient in the amounts that can be spent in a particular country.

The minimum wage in Bulgaria from 1 January 2017 is 235 euros (in leva). The threshold of poverty is the sum of 161 euros (in leva) of income per month.

The minimum wage does not particularly affect the true salaries of many people, because in Bulgaria a lot of tricks are flourishing, like not paying wages. And they are all almost legal. That is, people are satisfied with documents on a part-time basis and they sit in the office or shop for exactly three or four hours and receive a salary for this, but the real burden is given by the chef for several hours more and the person is forced to process either at home or staying at the office type on personal matters. So my friends work in offices, for example.

Sellers in the Bill hypermarket receive an average of 500 levs (250 euros), because they are legally required as cashiers to work on a certain schedule on a part-time basis. And then it will be as lucky: either the person goes home and sits in front of the telecom, or goes to another part-time job, or immediately in the store performs other duties for another bet - everything depends on the chief of the store.

That's what the MROT really affects, so it's for the life of immigrants in Bulgaria, because it depends on all sorts of fees and duties in the state treasury and the amounts in various certificates. And the higher the minimum wage, the more immigrants groan.

What are real wages in Bulgaria? I dont know. Because I do not work, and my husband works in the realm of unreal salaries))) I'm kidding. I just do not have such personal experience and connections so that I can talk about something here. Therefore, I refer to statistics, but with reservations.

Average salary according to statistics

So, according to the latest data from the Bulgarian Statistical Institute for the year 2017, the average monthly salary of people working for hire is as follows.

By region:

The North-West region (Vidin, Vratsa, Lovech, Montana, Pleven) - 816 lv (418 euros).

The northern central region (Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Razgrad, Ruse, Silistra) is 823 BGN (422 EUR).

The North-East region (Varna, Dobrich, Targovishte, Shumen) - 910 lv (466 euros).

South-Eastern region (Bupgas, Sliven, Stara zagora, Yambol) 898 BGN (460 euros).

South-West region (Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pernik, Sofia,) 1279 levs (655 euros).

The southern central region (Kardzhali, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan, Haskovo) 847 BGN (434 EUR).

If you want to imagine the real salary that an overwhelming majority receives in a particular region, you need to subtract about two hundred (leva) from this amount. Because any statistics, as I already wrote above, is the average temperature for the hospital, and to understand it you have to imagine how many people live in a particular region, how many foreign enterprises there are with exorbitant salaries for expats, what is the seasonality of enterprises in this region and the level of the economy for blackness and grayness. Here it is still very prosperous.

None of my Bulgarian neighbors in Sofia receives a salary of more than 800 levs (400 euros) per month. At the same time, I know the invited programmers who receive 5,000 euros each. By the way, in the IT sector at the moment, the average salary is 2700 BGN (1.384 EUR) among the Bulgarians, which according to the Bulgarian media is 4 times higher than the average salary in the country. If someone is interested, I can write about it some other time.

Thank you for your time and attention.

I read your post about prices and now this one, and to be honest, I was amazed how it's similar story with Serbia and Bulgaria, and with public official data that are not even close to real life. It looks like that same scenario is written in both countries..Thank you for making effort @varya-davydova.
