Hi steemers! 🔆 What do you know about mountains? I know a little bit about that. But I know exactly there all seems to be right with the world and at this high above sea level everyone can almost touch the sky.

And I would like to tell you how I found myself on one of the highest points in the Armenian Highlands – Mount Aragats.

Всем привет! 🔆 Друзья, вы когда-нибудь поднимались в горы? Для меня горы – словно другой мир, где все внутренние проблемы и вопросы уходят, освобождая место новым идеям и гармонии. Это возможность прикоснуться к небу, познавая и на мгновения обретая себя. И мне хотелось бы поделиться с Вами историей нашего восхождения на одну из самых высоких вершин Армении – гору Арагац.

🔼 One of the peaks of Mount Aragats

We were in Yerevan when finally met up with our friend Alexander from Arkhangelsk. Together we had planned to climb to the peak of Mount Aragats. Mount Aragats is an extinct volcano, the highest mountain in Armenia (4,090 m). In ancient times a volcanic eruption, accompanied by an explosion, destroyed the top of the mountain.

В Ереване мы наконец-то встретились с нашим другом из Архангельска Сашей. Вместе с ним мы планировали восхождение на вершину горы Арагац. Арагац – это потухший вулкан, самая высокая гора на территории современной Армении. В доисторические времена вулканическое извержение, сопровождавшееся взрывом, разрушило вершину горы.

The first thing we did in the morning we came to Yerevan was going to buy products. It was an important moment and took half a day :)

Утром мы первым делом отправились по магазинам, чтобы купить продукты и составить меню на период нашего похода. Несомненно, для нас это был самый ответственный момент, и он занял практически полдня.:)

Our next goal was to reach the village of Aragats, the point where our trip was to begin. We’d been lucky and a car gave us a lift from Yerevan to the place.

Следующей нашей целью было село Арагац, откуда и начинался один из маршрутов к вершине. Нам очень повезло, и из Еревана до места, мы добрались автостопом всего на одной машине.

Before the rise, we decided to take a break and have a snack. We went to the village shop. Nearby thrown off backpacks and enjoyed a juicy watermelon in anticipation of the conquest of the mountain peaks! :)

Перед подъёмом мы решили немного передохнуть и перекусить. Мы зашли в сельский магазинчик. Затем неподалёку скинули рюкзаки и наслаждались сочным арбузом в предвкушении покорения горных вершин!:)

We were getting farther and farther away from the village. Our path had led under hills and over hills and we were walking up the picturesque mountain road.

Мы всё дальше и дальше отдалялись от деревни. Наш путь лежал по живописной горной дороге вдоль ущелья.

🔼 The road across the gorge

Soon we saw a truck that was driving up the mountain. The driver stopped near us and offered to give us a lift to the foot of the mountain. And we rode right in the back of the truck. Alexandr chose in-car trip and was entertaining driver who treated him with a local beer.:)

Вскоре мы заметили грузовик. Водитель остановился и предложил подвезти нас до ближайшей развилки. И мы поехали прямо в кузове, а Саша в кабине вместе с водителем, развлекая водителя рассказами. А тот взамен угощал его местным пивом.:)

We had a wonderful panoramic view from the back of the truck. About half an hour we were driving up the hill. The village became tiny and almost invisible.

Невероятный панорамный обзор открывался нам из кузова автомобиля. Около получаса мы поднимались в гору. Село, где еще совсем недавно мы ели арбуз, стало крошечным и практически незаметным.

When we said goodbye to the driver of the truck, it was getting dark and drizzling rain. Not so far from us we saw the tents of Yezidis and decided to hurry. Yazidis are the largest ethnic and religious minority in Armenia. They winter in the villages, but leave their homes as soon as the snow melts. Yezidis spend spring, summer and part of autumn in the mountains and raise their cattle on the high pastures.

Когда мы попрощались с водителем грузовика, уже начинало холодать, и моросил дождь. Вдалеке мы увидели палатки езидов и решили поторопиться. Езиды - это одна из самых многочисленных общин среди этнических меньшинств в Армении. Они зимуют в деревнях, но, как только сходит снег, покидают свои дома. Весну, лето и часть осени эти люди проводят в горах и пасут скот на высокогорных пастбищах.

🔼 The tents of Yezidis

When we had almost reached the tents, hailstorm started. Yazidis saw us. We immediately realized that they were glad to see us. Their children ran to meet us, to show where we can take shelter from the weather!

Мы были совсем рядом, когда началась гроза с градом. Нас заметили, и по лицам людей можно было понять, что нас рады видеть. А дети побежали показывать нам, где можно укрыться от непогоды!
