10 Facts About China

in #travel7 years ago

After my trip to Beijing… I found some interesting facts that I thought it would be nice to share with you guys as they will wreck many stereotypes you may have about the Chinese people.

So here we go..

1.Chinese do not speak English. At least, the majority to be fair.

2.Most of the Chinese are atheist. You may come across many religious people that worship Buddha but most of the Chinese, especially the young ones, do not believe to any god.

3.Taking a cab to reach your destination is really cheap.

4.People in China, are extremely friendly. Even though the communication was not the best, there were many times that somebody would offer to help you no matter if you had asked him in the first place or not.

5.Chinese are really bad drivers. Is it the traffic jam? Is it cause of their culture? I really don’t know. The only thing I witnessed ,the time I spent in Beijing, is that traffic lights were not taken that seriously and many times I felt really unsafe when I had to cross the streets.

6.Chinese SPIT ALL THE TIME! Honestly, I am not kidding. Men, Women, young, seniors you name it. Everybody spits no matter the time or place. It was really unpleasant to view that awful habit.

7.Pollution is not that bad as it is exhibited in the media. Obviously, it is not the cleanest part of earth but at the time I spent there I can admit that the air wasn’t that dirty.

8.Chinese love their history. Before leaving for China ,I had read an article claiming that Chinese are not that interested in their history and their ancient sights. Well, that was a big lie as I found out. A day did not go by without seeing thousands of Chinese discovering their history and culture at many different temples and museums.

9.China is really known for being a fan of bargaining. Nevertheless, bargaining is not always accepted. Many shops and sellers have their prices fixed and they won’t be pleased if you try to drop their price a few dollars.

10.Chinese DO NOT eat snakes, cockroaches, worms etc. They only cook these animals for tourist attractions at famous street food roads. If you ever visit China you will hardly see somebody try any of these ‘’foods’’.   Well, this was my list. I hope you enjoyed reading and learning a few new things about the ¼ of the world’s population.

Till next time, See you Steemians.
