Travel Treasure | #1 | Pamporovo/Bulgaria

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hello Friends,

Last week, I was on the vacation to ski in Bulgaria. My aim was to prepare video series but I'm having trouble with Dtube. So instead, I extracted some photos from the video and changed it to travel post. Also, I have taught to establish travel post series "Travel Treasure" and it turns as a start point for me.

Pamporovo is one of the three famous places for skiing in Bulgaria which located in the Rhodopi mountain, 85 km from Plovdiv and 240 km from Sofia. The others are called as Bansko and Borovets. Since Bansko is too crowded and Borovets in a little longer distance for me, I choose Pamporovo every year. It was my fourth time going to Pamporovo and I'm planning to try Borovets in next year.

Ski Tracks

The highest point of the ski zone is 1926 meters. There are 7 chairs lifts and 6 drag lifts. Tracks are appropriate for all levels of skiers. Percentage of distances from beginners to pro are respectively; 18% green, 44% blue, 20% red, %18 black.

Prices

Currently 1 Bulgarian Lev = 0.51 Euro.

It is a quite cheap place for the good skiing vacation. We paid 550 € for 3 people in 5-night accommodation including open buffet breakfast and lunch also with travel expanse. It was a holiday period for schools, so you can manage to go there with a lower price in a different period of time. Ski pass prices are a little bit high which is 59 lev for a day and 39 lev for a half day. Skii and boots rent officially 25 lev per day but with a small bargain, we reduced it to 12 lev. Food and drink prices are also low. For example; soup (3 lev), salads (5 lev) pizza (12-15 lev) beer 0.500ml (2-3 lev) bottle of wine (11-15 lev).

General Conditions

It is required to use a shuttle (If you have a car, that's okay too) to go from hotels to ski zone. It takes around 10 minutes. Some hotels provide free shuttle while some charges 1 lev for one way.

Tracks were generally in a good condition. The weather was quite hot and there was not enough snow every day. However, they use snow machine to produce snow and weather conditions make no big differences.

There is a one private rescue center in the middle of the ski zone. In day 3, my arm was dislocated. It took 45 minutes to take me from track to rescue center and I wait one and half hour for an ambulance to send me a hospital. Apparently, only two ambulances were working. Medical examination is really expensive, so if you go there, try not to heart yourself :)
