Sayulita - great waves and parties

If you are a longboarder and love to party go ahead and go to Sayulita. You will not be disappointed in both respects. Well, you may not appreciate the waves because there are more people in your way than at a cross walk in New York City. But the wave itself is pretty consistent and a lot of fun. If you are a experiences gauntlet navigator from a break like Malibu where no day is complete with out a collision or a kook dropping in on you, then you will feel at home here.

The break is located right in the main beach in town. Sayulita is basically a small town with mountains on both sides that is filled to the brim with more people than the infrastructure or the beach itself can handle.

If you walk down hill from any area in the town and keep walking down hill you will find yourself at the break. The streets are steep and narrow and full of traffic. I would recommend renting a golf cart for your stay. This will allow you easily to move about the challenging terrain and find the parking spaces more easily. If you are traveling by car, you will find the experience quite frustrating. The town just isn’t set up for cars.

The wave is a reef break that is always gentle and manageable with some exceptions in the summer when the storm swells come in. There are lefts and rights and there are multiple breaks all along the beach. And yes, even at 0500 in the morning there is a crowd. But again, if you know your way around a surf board you will have a great time.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of Sayulita is it’s nightlife. Any given night of the week you are able to have the best party experience of your life. There are incredible musicians, performers, dancers and a lot of substances that you may fancy.

That being said there is also a strong well-ness community there with a lot of healing arts and ceremonial workshops to get into if that is your fancy.
