Visited Hauser and Wirth Galleries with my family on Saturday; and I wonder why it took so long to get my ass over there. It is more than just galleries; it has become a bonified destination. Strange that I have heard so little about it.

Perhaps it has just have not been discovered by the travel writers and media yet, as the complex is quite new. Here is a handy list of reasons why I think they should all get their head checked.

One: The Gardens; the preceding image is the giant mural that looms over it, and the picnic tables people sit at. This place has chickens!

It also has some interesting sculptures and little nooks and crannies.

Two. It's free: had to slip this in there. LA can be an expensive destination, but one redeeming aspect is there are many attractions that are free or inexpensive; add this place to your list.

Three. The Shops: There is a Gallery Shop and an Art Book store, solid for inspiration and potential gifts.

Four. The Restaurant; No we did not eat there, but check the atmosphere.

Five. "The Panty Lights"; Humorous and oddly pretty.

Six. The art: 3 or 4 galleries worth. The complex is rather large; they even provide a map.

You had to go through a cave to get to this piece.

The cave was in here:

One exhibit was rock and crystal cities; these little men marked a transition between the two.

Seven: The courtyard is a chill environ to sit and wait for stragglers or just sit and chat.

Eight: It's in the Arts District. Located near Traction Avenue and "Angel City Brewery", there is plenty of fun shopping, food and drink, galleries and museums to visit. "The Piehole", "The Architecture and Design Museum", and "ArtShare LA" are a few of my favorites that are also nearbye.

It also took me a while to discover The Arts District, but what I found made me wonder why it was not at number one or two on every media celebrity's "What to do in LA's" list. I have not even seen everything yet; it's huge.
