En esta ciudad se mercadea el 80% de los diamantes no pulidos del mundo, es por eso que sus construcciones, como este edificio de oficinas evoquen a un barco de diamantes, haciendo honor al importante puerto en su ribera y el mercado de diamantes.
Las palabras 'tirar a mano' cuando se traduce en holandés significa 'Hantwerpen', de ahí el nombre de la ciudad 'Antwerpen'
