Who am I? : Three types of travellers.

The different times I’ve traveled, I’ve practiced one out of these 3 forms/types of travel. What type of traveler do you think you are?

Today, we would determine what kind of tourist are you. Firstly, there are 3 major types of tourists / travelers.

Luxury travel:
From the keyword, luxury. Luxury travelers desire to travel but in an expensive manner. Sometimes, expenses incurred are unnecessary. A luxurious traveler has his/her focus set upon lavish, sophistication, prestige and seamless travel. They seek out personalised services on all aspects of their travel. Ranging from culture, cuisine, community, content and customization.

Characters of a luxurious traveler:

– Major focus is on luxurious destinations
– Seeks all that is authentic about a destination
– Doesn’t care about little cost incurred while traveling
– Is willing to pay for extra personalised services
– Strives for Quality experiences
– Makes more memories than just pictures.
– They orchestrate their own unique travel experiences. Like painting dreams to reality.

Mid-range or budget travel:
A Mid-range traveler is inbetween a luxury traveler and a cheap traveler. The mid-range traveler travels comfortably, seeking out affordable experiences and services. Lavish, sophistication and prestige aren’t the main focus of the traveler but would be readily accepted if presented with.

– Affordable travel is key.
– Extra luxury is avoided when unnecessary.
– Keeps expenses average.
– Travels for a purpose, be it vacation, work, business, etc
– Has a specific budget that might be expanded if need be.
– Loves comfort and does what he/she can when necessary.
– Is neither overly conservative nor luxurious.
– Is budget conscious.

Cheap travel:
It is travel that is very money conscious. This is the most practised form of travel. Cheap travelers avoid any extravagances. I define cheap travel as survival travel. Most travel bloggers and frequent travelers indulge in cheap travel. Seeing that majority of people across the universe are middle class to lower class income earners, it is not surprising to know that cheap travel constipate most of the world’s recorded travels.

– They travel with little or no money
– Keep expenses low.
– Use cheapest form of commercial tourists accommodation.
– Found in the cheapest places to buy food.
– Self cater.
– Does not require personalised services.
– Prefers community travel style.
– They are found in cheap/free tourists attractions.
– Work while traveling to earn more survival income.
– Group touring.
– They mistake comfort as luxury.

Basically, you can decide which type of traveler you want to be at different trips. It’s not compulsory to conform to one type always. The form you choose depends majorly on your budget, income, destination and your personality.
