Photos From The Road #5 - Hervey Bay
Fraser Island To Hervey Bay! Exploring The Best Of The East Coast Of Australia!
Hello Steemians!
Here’s the latest Photos From The Road as I travel north along Australia’s beautiful East Coast.
Last time I checked in with you all I was exploring Glass House Mountains- volcanic mountains outside of Brisbane!
This week I’ve been exploring the largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island, and I’ve already posted the best pictures of my aerial flight over the island and from the rusting shipwreck I found on the white sand beach.
Here’s the rest of my pictures from Fraser Island, and from nearby Hervey Bay, a coastal town with a huge jetty and great views of the Pacific Ocean!
Next stop, the Whitsundays! Stay tuned for that!
Fraser Island
Fraser Island!
Fraser Island is the Largest sand island in the world. It’s a lot of sand. And the beaches are pure white and beautiful.
The only way to get around is by four by four, and I explored the beaches and rainforest for the day as well as getting airborne in a light aircraft!
Fraser Island is a protected area, and it’s a haven for wildlife.
It’s one of the best places to see wild dingos on the East Coast.
I also spotted sea eagles, spiders and even the odd snake...!
Hervey Bay
After a day on the white sand beaches of Fraser Island it was back to the mainland and north to the town of Hervey Bay, a small port city on the coast surrounded by tidal mud flats and home to a kilometre long wooden jetty.
Locals were out on the tidal flats and along the jetty fishing and searching for mud crabs.
Out to sea was Fraser Island, where I was the day before and an endless stretch of coastline heading north towards the Great Barrier Reef and my ultimate destination: Cairns!
After Hervey Bay I’m heading ever further north, and the next stop is the Whitsunday Archipelago, a place of more white sands and more beautiful beaches!
Safe Travels Steemians!
Richard
