TRAVELMAN DUBAI: I Think I’m in Tomorrowland, kind of...

Dubai is a city in The United Arab Emirates, and it’s insane! These pics are merely my first taste of the skyline. I took all of them through the window of the Metro train I took from the airport to my hostel at sunrise.

I think this still holds the title for tallest building on Earth (I read that’s gonna change, someone is building a bigger one.)

I took a flight that began in with a 6:30 P.M. tuk tuk ride to the airport in Negombo, Sri Lanka, then I had a hurried connection in Mumbai in the middle of the night, and finally the second plane dropped me in this two camel desert town at four in the morning.

I slept for 90 minutes on the first flight. On the second flight a little boy sitting behind me at the back of a fully booked 727 kicked the back of my “riding bitch in the middle” seat for two hours (Until I turned around and politely bitched at him). The eleven year-old had no clue to his guilt, he was just being eleven and I was just being a grumpy grown man in the middle of the night on a long crowded flight.

I got on the Metro and sat down. It was so clean and pristine that I almost thought I was at Disney World. I wasn’t far off, this city looks like tomorrow land. ...except for a couple things -like a gentleman having to bring to my attention that I’d sat down in the women and children only section. Everything across that red line is no man’s land, literally. Women and children can sit in the regular section as well if they’d like, but it was mostly a sausage party. The bus became crowded a few stops later and all the men were crowded on our side of the line.

That's okay though, everyone knows women and children are known carriers of Kooties...
