It is 2018, the year when going from one place to another is easier than ever. For some of us getting on an airplane is just as usual as getting onto the bus when going to work. Meanwhile, some people are so afraid of flying that they would rather drive from Sweden to Spain on a bike. Regardless of who of these are you, these Best Air Travel Tips will help you to feel more comfortable on your next journey!

10 Best Air Travel Tips

1. Stay Hydrated!

This is the most important thing when flying. The air in the airplane is dryer than in a desert, so you MUST drink plenty of water. You should consume 200ml of water per every flying hour to stay hydrated. Coffee, tea, Pepsi or Vodka doesn’t count! Yes, I know it sucks!

2. Dress Up for a Flight, not a Party

Unless you are not flying for a business meeting in a 40min flight, leave your suits and ties in the luggage. Think about your well-being on a flight not about how you will look when getting on or off a plane. Trust us, jeans and t-shirt will be much better than your cocktail dress. And trainers or any other comfy shoes!

3. Think About the Temperature

When you are having 2+ hours flight, most probably you will fall asleep and want to get a blanket. If you are flying with a low-cost airline, no one is gonna bring you any blanket or actually anything at all, so you should think about it ahead. Take with you an extra sweater, scarf or even a mini blanket. This small detail will help you have some rest during the flight and get some energy for visiting your destination.

4. Have a Travel Pillow

Continuing the best air travel tips with a sleeping subject, another great thing to have with you is a travel pillow. Sometimes we are making jokes about those guys walking around the airport with a travel pillow, but afterwards, when we see them on the same flight, sleeping comfy like a baby, we want to be in their place. Seriously, who doesn’t have that pain in the neck after 3 hours trying to sleep on your friend’s (if you are lucky and not sleeping on a stranger) shoulder? So, go get a good travel pillow before your next flight!

Here are a few great travel pillows that we love:

5. Take Some Must-Have Cosmetics

As mentioned above, the air in the plane is very dry, and so are your lips and hands during the flight. We bet you have space in your purse or computer bag for a hand cream, face moisturizer, and lip balm. Especially if you are not flying only two times per year to a family holiday, but more like two times per week to meetings in Stockholm , Copenhagen, Amsterdam , London etc. these are the things that you must take with you.

6. Evaluate Your Fitness to Fly

This doesn’t mean that you have to hit the gym before flying, this means you should consider your health condition. Be aware that the pressure during the flight is different than on the ground and your innocent flu can get you in some serious trouble. If, however, you need to get on that flight with some cold, take the necessary medicine, vitamins or whatever makes you feel better and more comfortable.

7. Bring Some Food

It’s not a secret that the food on a plane will cost more money than in your local supermarket, so, why should you spend more when it is not necessary? Before the flight, consider some time for a little shopping and buy some fruits, nuts, chocolate or whatever you like to snack on.

Love long-haul flights as the meals are usually included!

8. Use Flight Time Wisely

No matter if it’s 2 hours or a long-haul flight, you can use the time to do some useful and fun stuff. Maybe there’s a book you can’t find time for, a movie you always wanted to watch or some important work to do, well, this is the time to do that. This is one of the best air travel tips for scared fliers because they can spend a flight not thinking about how afraid of flying they are. Trust us on this one! Linda is terrified of flying.

9. Move Around the Plane

It is not healthy to sit in one position for many hours, so don’t do that! Don’t be afraid to walk from one end to another, you are not supposed to sit all those hours in your seat. Do some easy exercises for your neck, back, hands, ankles etc. It helps to your blood circulation and well-being. Always think about your health!

10. Be Nice to Your Flight Attendant

And last, but definitely not the least, you should always be nice to the crew. Remember that they are on a plane not only to serve you a coffee but to save your life. At one moment your flight attendant is your host but at the next, she or he can be your nurse, psychologist or entertainer for your kid. Follow the instructions, remember about words “thank you, please, excuse me” and you will get off that plane with a smile and great mood! (This tip comes from one of our best friends, and you can imagine already – she’s a flight attendant, haha!)
