Mini Plant in Oxford
Sam's University trip had its first technical visit of this UK trip today; to see the Mini manufacturing/assembling plant just outside of Oxford. The site is large (over 100 football pitches) and produces around 5,000 made-to-order cars per week. Unfortunately, photos on the tour itself was prohibited, but photos of the evolution of Mini in their exhibition could be taken. As you can see from the various photos, there are various styles of Minis and different bodyworks. From the Union Jack design to a Mini with a cow skin cover. The Mini has been used in car racing and is probably best known in the film: The Italian Job with Michael Caine. Mini has been owned by BMW for the past 20 years, but still retains its British status symbol and icon. What do you think of the Mini?
