Paradise on Earth: Oia, Santorini, Greece

Oia is like Quentin Tarantino’s Django: the first letter is silent.

Located in the Westernmost point of the beautiful Island of Santorini – the Island of Love and Romance (and of kitties) –, in Greece, this lovely small town is the perfect place to thank the Gods for having used beauty in the construction of the world…

White houses on the hills, the deep blue sea down there, small streets that zigzag through traditional doors and windows, and an amazing sunset we’ve already covered @travelingstories! All of this makes Oia a real Paradise on Earth!

For a lot of people, Oia is Santorini. End of story. Well as we will show you here @travelingstories, there’s much more to see in this island rather than just this small town… Though, a lot of people is almost right: Oia is such a special place that everyone dreams of it when it comes to Santorini… Why? Like we said, white houses on hills, windmills and incredible sunsets make this a place everyone wants to visit!

As we’ve witnessed, Oia is one of the most romantic places in Europe. Small houses that look more like caves, with a jacuzzi, a glass of wine and the sunset right ahead? No doubt this is a well-known honeymoon destination…

But it’s not only about the sunset, it’s also about the streets… From shopping local handicraft to buying expensive jewelry, tourists have a wide offer to spend their money and, in between, can wonder with the Caldera – the volcano of old that was destroyed after a violent earthquake centuries ago, only to give place to the sea water.

Before we end this post (and there will be more about Santorini and the Greek Islands – stay tuned!), we just want to say that staying at Santorini is quite expensive. This is one of the most visited places in Europe, with people coming from allover the world to enjoy its beauty. We strongly advise everyone to book your hotel or Airbnb as soon as possible, so you can enjoy some early bird fee.
