Paradise on Earth: Hvar, Croatia

Every traveler dreams of finding one… A hidden gem, a unique, special place none knows… A piece of Paradise on Earth, untouched by the masses… We @travelingstories want to share with you these special places, so you can wonder at them like we did!

This time, we’ll talk about… Hvar, in Croatia!

Hvar is a Croatian island located in the South of the country, on the Adriatic Sea. It is reachable by ferry boat or catamaran from the port of Split – another city we @travelingstories will cover really soon!

The island is big, but its main attraction is the picturesque village of Hvar. It has the same name of the island and it used to be an important Naval base for the Venetians, in the times of old.

The remains of those old times still figure on the landscape. The castle on top of the hill is one of those remarkable landmarks, but there are also walls and old churches to visit, amidst the impressive and impeccably conserved streets this small town by the sea has to offer.

Labyrinthic, charming and for pedestrians-only, the small streets of Hvar are just perfect to transport us to another universe, a universe made of calm, warm weather and peace…

The whole town was developed around its port, which now is another attraction point for yatchs on the Adriatic Sea.
